You know, there are a whole bunch of winter tires threads all over this forum, starting from August - a forum search for 'winter tires' or 'winter wheels' will turn them up in this section, and in the Canada regional section. Very worthwhile reading for information on winter tire sizes, brands that are available in proper sizes, etc.

That said - yeah, Hakkas have been mentioned several times, and are very good tires. Not necessarily the best, as that depends on what you want from the winter tires, but very good. The 225/45-17 size is not great - too short, you'll actually be reducing your ground clearance! Sizes being used by RX-8 owners are 215/55-17 (narrower is better for snow tires), 225/50-17, or 225/45-18.

Regards,
Gordon
