I don't know I'm not going to argue one way or the other but I will just put in my 2 cents. This is a lot like buying a surround sound system for your home theater. You can spend the cheaper amount of money and get one of those HTIB system's or you can go the real way and do it all yourself and buy the stuff separately. On the one hand the HTIB system will sound ok, you won't get the satisfaction and quality that you would of gotten by setting up your system on your own.

With my surround sound system I went with the more expensive option and built it from the ground up, obviously I favor the higher end brands, and will be picking up some Volk SF-challenges real soon, just because my theory is .......... You have a nice car, you shouldn't skimp on anything for price and instead do what you feel is the best for your car. Some people can feel comfortable getting cheaper wheels and getting complimented on them in the public. I want to take my car to car shows and be told I have nice wheels by people who know what nice wheels look like.

It's like those people that put on HUGE spoilers on their car to look cool, yeah it will fool some dumb@$$ girls who don't know anything about cars but if you bring that around here you will get laughed at by me, yet most people will think its "cool".

No, he mean't wheels that have some passion into them (Shows that you know who the original designers). Not something you have to cringe when you mention the name of.

"Naw, they aren't real volks......they are ...... insert knockoff brand here... i could not afford the real thing or i have wrong priorities "

again, why do you think I should spend $1000 extra dollars of my hard earned money on quality I can't use?

I hope you have something more rational then "they got passion in them"

lets get the facts straight with me though, i honestly spend a lot of money on my car, no way i went lower end. i have the full mazdaspeed body kit (front is clear bra'd) w/ custom paint, i have mazdaspeed coilovers (which snapped on me for the rear showing quality isn't always there with named brands), mazdaspeed cold air and cat back, mazdaspeed strut bars, mazdaspeed brake lines and all that other junk that cost a crap load of money. heres my thing though, mazdaspeed doesnt offer their rims at a lower offset and wider width. why should i settle for that when i can get some look alikes that do offer wider width and lower offset? and i've seen brembo brakes fail on the track many time as well as many other "reputable" companies products. of coarse i look for quality but when options i want are not there, i improvise. i mean honestly, i want the rotas for track, im getting some rp03s for show and lastly, i spend a good amount of money buying some bridgestone potenza re01r's so i do spoil my car.

But having rota's doesn't bracket some one immediately into a lower social class. Do I have rota's? No, but I did shop around for them last fall for some time. Can I afford volks? Yeah but I'd love to spend the money on a vacation, nice watch, or just bank it in these times.

In the end, once again, they're just metal wheels for a car

i'm actually shocked at the nature of the responses. If i were to just read these responses and not know where they were posted, I would have sworn this was honda-tech or another civic forum. I would never have guessed this would be on a forum that is devoted to a niche' 30,000 sports car.

This makes me sad.

Kill it with FIRE!! LOL

Mazdaspeed: My only problem with people is that they are in denial about these wheels being replicas or somehow being close to the real thing. Which is not the truth. Not saying your car is crap, and i am sure you know what you are doing with your car. No need to justify it to me.

^ Some people run it because they are broke.

I am not going to segregate people who run them. I am not here to make enemies either.

All of this is just my opinion, that's all. Nothing more, nothing less.

No I will help people who engineer stuff and come up with new products to help the industry go after the people who knock stuff off and replicate them.

Now, if those lawsuits fail, that is not my fault or problem.

I didn't go to them, they asked me if I knew who was making knockoffs. I just gave the names, that's all.

And my efforts stem from my opinion that knockoffs are bad.

It was funny, right after i posted the last post, i went downstairs and i saw the October 2nd issue of BusinessWeek about how Chinese Counterfeit, Knock-Off Computer chips have infiltrated the US Military and has increased electronic breakdowns/chances of others spying on us. (I.E: F15 Eagle Avionics, Radar Systems on the USS Ronald Reagan, Chinook Helicopters). It's the same issue with another face to it, that's all.

The Pentagon tried to go cheap on a few things, and it hit their asses hard back.

The Japanese are not suckers, and eventually only time will tell who was the real sucker.

Just enjoy and watch the show. Maybe nothing will happen, and they will just let it go, or maybe **** will hit the fan.

I'm done with it, if you guys want to buy trash like I said I'm not stopping you. However I stand by my very first post on this thread.

You couldn't pay me to put rotas on my car. Period.

Oh, and Mikeluvs8, If i want ROTAs....i can get it directly from the source.

A friend's relative i know works at ROTA in Philipines. I can get it at a lower price than the wheeldude.

I would rather get the Work Meister S1s i am planning for in 09 for my GTR.

you should see the thread about rotas on evolutionm haha
http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthr...ighlight=rotas

my personal opinion is to save for the real deal. i have seen some horror stories about rotas but they look ok. (of course they are copies of good looking wheels)
i had advan rs on my evo and i was a tiny bit upest when rota made the g-force. but i just ordered another set of advans for my 8. the quality is awsome and they are pretty light weight even over the work emotions i had. i think the volks are even lighter and stronger than that depending on wich wheel you choose.

again just an opinion
haha sorry for the little ramble

it seems like you envy rota's work. hey all i gotta say is that if it wasnt for haters like you rota wouldnt be as sucessful as they are now so they need haters like you, thank you for being you.

Well 3000 dollar rims are a fart in the wind if you can afford a GTR, so get off your high horse buddy, I have a house payment, car, insurance, utilities, and tuition for school, so I wanted a decent set of wheels I don't track. And I still wanted to keep all my other stuff so yeah I went with the cheaper option doesn't mean I wouldn't love a set of work, but life doesn't always allow for the luxuries. So yeah my priorities are jacked I want to live in a house instead of an RX8.

i'm talking about what they are MSRP there 'buddy'.

Also, you have a house payment, car insurance, utilities, tuition to pay for? Welcome to the club. Wait til you have a kid, I'm sure you'll be able to find wheels even cheaper and crappier than Rotas to throw on that car. His GTR doesn't cost as much as you think it does... Plus he likes to do things the right way, prime example of what can be accomplished when you take your time and do things right. You wouldn't know, since you're the only one with bills and a set budget of course though. Please, just stop it's just making you look more stupid to complain about things EVERYONE has to deal with.

so your saying just cause i have rotas on my car my car is not done right????some of us just have to be practicle and get what we can afford. just cause you have $3k dollar wheels doesnt mean your car looks better than mine or it doesnt mean that im automatically going to win a race or a car show.
look this guy got a center fold on a mag he has the rota boost.

heres my car with rotas

now lets see your car with your $3k+ wheels... PDM BABY!!!!
