Question on wider tires on stock rim...
Ok. I just got my RX8 last week and am considering the shift to all season tires. I think our stock rim is 18X8 and our tires 225/45R18 ..
Now, are there any of you here who are still using stock rims (with the Mazda logo) with 245/40R18 tires ???
How does it feel driving 245/40R18 on stock rims????
Thanks for any feedback.

a lot of us are, there were more choices when the Bridgestones wore out. I like the width, and having a sidewall of sorts. It feels a little tighter when cruising but, on the curves you can feel a bit more roll on the body.

they have the about the same height, but on the 245's the tire sticks out farther from the rim.
So, I'm referring to the width and angle of the sidewall, and not the height.

I'll not put another set of 225s on my 8. The tire is too close to the edge of the rim. If you are not super careful when putting the wheel down on the ground, you can scratch the rim. Since I change wheels on a regular basis (seperate set of wheels for autocross, thanks tim) I constantly hear the "clink" even though I am careful when laying down the wheels.
The 275s fit fine. 245 will work great.

The RX8 owner's manual stated that you need to use recommended tires (225/45 -18). If something happens after installing 245/40-18 tires - will that void the warranty?

My dealer put the 245's on mine, they liked the way they fit. I can't think of anything it would void.
If you had a wreck because of the tires, (think Ford Explorer), you couldn't sue the company.
