problems with 275 rear

Dose anyone have a problem with rubbing 275 in the rear? the offset for my rims are +30 . Should I just use 265? it only happens when I go over a bump on the road.

That offset is pretty low....makes the wheels stick out a lot more than stock.

What width are they.....I have 9.5" with 45 offset...and they just clear with 2 deg neg camber and 275's in the back.......

i have 9.5's in the back with 275's. No rubbing issues yet. you just need to have the right offset.

yea, 9.5 +30, all you need is the shave the fender a bit and no more rubbing. FE3P and XDEEDUBBX had their's shaved and I will be doing that soon as well. it allows for a nice aggressive look.

yah i heard about ef1. they do fender rolling. people have mixed reviews about cutting and rolling, doesn't really matter.

EF1 is a crazy sick shop, tons of hot rides go in and out of there. They should be able to take care of you.

i would reccomend status. Fender cutting is much better, I've seen a few people with rolled fenders that had their paint cracked , and there is a higher tendency to warp/ bend the fender if rolled.

I would recommend rolling. Cutting exposes the bare metal to eventual rusting, it can never be painted as it was w/multiple coats, and weakens the joint area. But poor rolling will definitely crack the paint and cause similar longterm problems, so use the right tools, do it slowly and heat the area first and there is no paint cracking.

275s rule!

thats only if you don't sand it down a lil and primer it, and throw on a few coats of paint. If you get it rolled make sure that you go to someone that knows what he's doing. I've gotten my fenders rolied before on one of my previous cars by a reputable body shop and the paint still cracked, and over time, it eventually started to crack parts of the paint by the exterior fender. i wouldn't worry too much about "weakening the fender" either, i've seen 100's of cars with cut fenders with no problems.

Cut (what would joe owner use and how much skill to make a nice even cut?), sand & clean, mask, prime, then few coats of paint..... come on... this isn't an easy, quick and certainly not a do-it-yourself method...sounds like sumin a body shop would need to do and costa bunch plus the paint matching/layering process to match our flake/clear coat isn't just simply spray and you're done. PITA if you ask me and $$$.

Rolling on the other hand is realatively easy, even for an rookie who can read directions and has only some mechanical skills. No body shop required if you take your time and are careful. It also takes only a few minutes to a half hour per fender. All you need is a quality rolling tool and a heat gun....and when you're done with that work, and that alone, you're done period. Simple, quick, painless, cheap too esp if you've a friend with the tools needed.

And I know, I just did mine that way, myself, alone and it was quite easy and worked very well.

Yeah, I have 275 tires with 9.5" rims that have a +42mm offset and I have no rubbing. Also my tires go all the way out perfectly to the edge of the fender and don't hang out a half inch.

Doing +30 with 275 on a 9.5" and you tires will hang out a little unless you get your car lowered slightly. Getting the rear end lowered a couple inches will likely pull the top of the tires inwards almost a half of an inch. (Of coarse with the +30's you will have to have your fender's modified by tucking or cutting as others have described.)

I guess I have no choice. I didn't want to do this just because with rolling can cause cracks in the future, and cutting might get rusted. I guess i'm gonna have to see if I can meet up with XDeedub and see how his looks, so what do you say XDee, are you gonna be at any local meets anytime?
