Opinions on Motegi rims?
Hey everyone... I'm new to the board...
Just wondering what any of ya'll think about Motegi rims as well as any of the other rims that are carried by their parent company.. i.e. Ruff...
I've got a nice dealer hookup and can get these VERY cheap with some hookup priced tires as well...

Do they have a tendency to fail? Some of them seem legitimately lightweight and decent looking and at the price I can get seems like the way to go....
Just wondering...

Nice set of wheels mikeb. people look at it from their own individual perspective ,and some times their individual perspective doesn't really mean and amount to ****

I have a set of 18" DPK's in hyper black and I'm very happy. Yes, Motegi's are cheap but I knew that going into it. Most people looking at my wheels think I paid triple what I did. I got mine for $600 brand new minus the tires. I just mounted the factory potenza's. If you want or can spend alot of money I wouldn't buy Motegi but if money is a factor, Motegi is a good choice IMO.

I'm looking into getting Motegi DPK 18"or 19"chorme rims for my Pearl White RX8.
Where did you guys get the Motegi rims or where to get some good deals?
After the rims can I just use my stock springs or do i need to change them? I was maybe thinking about the RB Springs because I do not want to be too low.

What a lot of people don't know is that those Motegi DPK's (I have a set myself) were actually RO_JA Kruzz's for a year or so. For those of you that don't know RO_JA makes some VERY high end rims.
If you want to tell people that you own a set of RO_JA's switch out the center caps. They are the same wheel. When I got mine through my sponsorship they actually came in RO_JA boxes and I had to pop in the Motegi Caps.
My Motegi FF5's that I had on my Eclipse were also RO_JA FF5's for a year as well.
Bottom line is that I love the wheels, they look great and people compliment me on them all the time.
By the way that is not me in the photo...thank god.

As rich as me? HA HA ..Don't you live in Anaheim hills? Man I live in Gardena! My city is ghetto...Look at my wheels! They are stock..i'm not talking about money here but the name of the thread was opinions on motegi wheels...and those were my opinions...

things are starting to get personal -____- we all have our own theories in wheels... for me i would rather save up a thousand more and get volks then get motegis, but that's just me... mikeb probably sees that 1000 and wants to spend it on something else... we all have different methods of modding our car, thats why this scene is so great because we all get to express ourselves differently :D

cheap rims doesnt mean cheap quality.
i have had 4 sets of italian made mono alloy wheels, great looking and expensive, but its not the strongest alloy wheels. they buckle all the time (ie. soft compound)
now i get all wheels from this new supplier, cheaper and alot stronger (compares to the more expensive italian jobs :p ) and comes with lifetime structural warranty :D

On the "Fast & The Furious" DVD, there is a section in the menu called"Building a hot import car". The producer of the movie narrates as this Mitsu Evo is transformed from stock to a fire breathing car. They spent thousands upon thousands on paint, bigger turbo and exhaust, DVD system, suspension and wheels. Guess what wheels they put on the car. RO_JA Kruzz or A.K.A. Motegi DPK. Either this is a decent cheaper wheel or they ran out of money before they thought about the rolling hardware.
