One tire is different from other three!?!?

Hello.....just purchased an 04 RX-8 on clearance. Got a great deal and I love the car. Anyways, I just noticed that one of the my tires (the rear right) is different in tread pattern from the other three. The model is all the same (Potenza RE040). Please check out the attached pics. Any thoughts?

check to see if direction of rotation is correct. tire might have been put on backwards.

also there are two 040 on oem and one retail. check tire rack. i thought the only difference was weight.

Good point......I checked for that when I first noticed the difference and the tire is not put on wrong. It's like that on both sides of the "wrong" tire.

Can you elaborate more on:

"also there are two 040 on oem and one retail."

Thanks.

check this link, http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...5WR8RE040MZ_=4

they are the same tire but one is oem, if you look at the specs (scroll down and click the link) you will notice one tire is lighter than the other. the lighter one is the oem (original equipment manufature)

the oem tire used to be listed as oem on the tire rack site. maybe the tread pattern is different also.

hope this helps some.
