Okay, didn't find any 17" MZ3 rims, so I moved on to the next thought, the 17" Tiburon wheels (Hyundai logo removed of course). Tib owners are constantly selling off their stock rims, and I've found someone selling theirs real cheap. The specs all sound like they should fit just fine, but I wanted to run it past the collective knowledge of the board:

17x7
offset: 46mm

According to some online wheel calculators the wheels will be 9mm further in than the stock setup of 18x8. Should that raise a red flag, or could a simple wheels spacer be used?

It does indeed. I used to have a Tib, that's how I knew they also have 5x114. I would have kept my old rims for the RX-8, but my stockers were the ugly 16s.

Other things to check:

Hub centering register diameter. If it's too small, the wheel can't be installed. If it's too large, you may get some vibration and will put extra stress on your lugs.

Brake clearance. Not all wheels will work with the RX-8 brakes, has to be checked.

Could also look for new MX-5 wheels. I have a half-arsed plan to borrow a set of these to use up some track rubber left over from a smaller car one day. Above would still apply.
