My Suspension Upgrade

My Suspension Upgrade
So all 4 shocks on my 04 RX-8 are leaking fluid, so its time to do a replacement. I have a set of Tokico D-Specs on order, estimated to be shipped out on the 18th. Would people be interested if I posted a show and tell thread on the process?

I'm interested in both the process and what you think of them. I was thinking of the Tokico D-specs or the Koni Sport adjustables.

It never hurts to have additional sources for this type of information. Sometimes forum users may accidentally leave out a thing or two, so various posts are always helpful. I'd rather log on and see new posts with helpful information than useless posts, wouldn't you?
DIY with some pictures would be very nice merkidemis

See even stock shocks fail! Who the hell designed this car? Is any corner of the car bottoming out? The DSpecs are good, Konis even better.
The only thing worse than a stock RX8 suspension is a 7 yr old worn out one. Even with aftermarkets in place, I wouldn't dare put anyone in the back seat---ever. I'd be afraid the shock towers would buckle over a frost heave.

Mine's still running fine with chopped springs. I think my shocks are defective

Why are the koni's better? The d-spec's have externally adjustable dampeners but the koni's have to be taken out to be adjusted. I kinda like the idea of adjusting ride quality on the fly but the koni's are cheaper too. What's up with that?

Sadly, no I have not put them in yet. Also, very sadly, it looks like I'll be selling the RX8. Just can't afford the 18mpg any more. It's costing me nearly $400/month in gas to run the thing. I will dearly miss it, as it is a very fun car to drive and it always gets the looks.

Did you get the extension cables for the rear shocks? They are a must to adjust while still on the car. You have to wiggle the shocks to get them in, they will snag a little when you install the shock (must add cable before installation).
Good choice, I love mine, especially driving to the track on 7, passing cars on 2, then driving home on 7.
