Lowering 40th ???
I am a noob, we all start somewhere. I started in the search but ended up being more confused than when I started.
Question: Will there be any performance losses in lowering a 40th Anniversary Edition? I understand it has sn "upgraded suspension" to begin with. I don't want to "slam" it. I don't really know if I want to spend 2K on coil overs. Is there an alternative, besides fat chicks in all seat and a corpse in the trunk, that will improve the look without a loss in performance.
Thanks

as long as you don't cut the springs or slam the **** out of it, you shouldn't have any noticeable performance loss.
a good set of lowering springs paired with some aftermarket adjustable struts should do the trick nicely.
H-Techs are popular as they're not too low or stiff
S-Techs are stiffer and will drop the car lower then H
Racing beat recommends Koni struts with H-Techs

Okay. I understand the Tein springs part. Was able to locate and research. The Koni struts - I see some online for a bazillion dollars. Again, thanks for the advice. Could you clarify type of strut I would need.

Honestly--- The Bilsteins struts on the 40th and R3 are "average" at best.
With my 40th I've ran S-techs which moderately helped handling, ride quality was about the same as stock. Now I'm running Stance coilovers, this mod made the largest handling improvement (obviously).
All in all, don't be afraid to mod your suspension. But use Jedi's advice when choosing the components you decide to use. Good Luck
