Interesting shutter when cornering

It seems that I am experiencing a strange shutter/ vibration during slow cornering. Its not the coilpacks and its not the engine mounts because they have been replaced with mazsport parts.

While testing it (driving the typical nascar track) i noticed the vibration while negotiating a right hand turn (coasting) the car seems to pickup this very interesting vibration coming from the passanger side wheel. I am not using the brakes at any point, this test was done with the traction control on and off.

As for modifications I have racing beat endlinks and tanabe sway bars.

Check the unit bearing in the front wheel

Check the rim and the wheel balancing as well

Dan... the wheels were balanced about 2 months ago so that should be ok.. I was thinking that it could be the wheel bearing. I do have a high pitched noise coming from that wheel also but it sounds like the caliper might be draging the brake pad.

How are your brake temps?? If the caliper is dragging you will see much higher rotor temps just driving around...check with an IR gun and see.

The bearing can run hot if it's FUBARRED as well.

Bearing is easy to tell...Jack it up and turn it..if it grinds or feels tight it is screwed.

Check the ball joints on the control arms as well. Could even be a loose bushing bolt or something. Try and get it up on a hoist and have a good look around

The wheels are stock and they are the same ones the car came with.. They were recently (2 months ago) balanced and aligned.

lug nuts are tight
brake pads are low but not bad
I will check the sliding pin tomorrow...

when i spin the wheel there is some noise (free spin) which leads me to believe that the caliper might be ceasing or the wheel bearings are suspect.

any more assesments?

Dan I will check all the bolts and bushings in that area and get back to you.

spin the rotor while you have the caliper off.. that should tell you a lot.

Thanks for posting this. I am having the exact same issue and mine is the front passenger side(as much as i can tell) also. I'm getting new wheels soon, so i'll have the guys check it out when they have the wheels off.

Same issue here with the passenger side front. At first I thought it was the brakes so I took them out cleaned them and all but the noise came back. When I first bought the car I felt some grinding coming from there but it wasn't a big deal, but now it's constant and can be felt at slow speeds. I lifted the car and checked all the bolts holding that area and they were ok. But when twisting the wheel with my hands while lifted there's a little play with a clicking noise, it has to be the bearings. Right?. I hope this is under warranty.
