Ice, did I do it right? Let me know.
I was on my way home the other night and I came around the corner and hit a sheet of ice with some small spots of pavement and the rear tires came loose. My 8 turned sideways and the traction control started to fire, which just made things worse. I started sliding and out of the corner of my eye I saw a red SRT4 and it was getting closer and closer. All of a sudden, like in the movies my car came to a stop, we got out and the 8 was about 6 inches from his back bumper. So, after I cleaned my shorts I went up to the SRT4 and found out that he had hit the same ice, but was not as lucky as I was. His passenger side tire was shoved up in the wheel well after he hit the curb, and he told me he was only doing 10 mph. I wonder if he was going faster or if it was just a poorly built car, we made sure he was ok and he told me that he had called a tow truck about a hour ago and was still waiting. So, I got back into the 8 and tried to go, but was just slipping closer in his direction so my buddy that was following me in his 6 helped me push it out onto the street and we headed home. About a mile down the road I hit more ice, but this time I was not as lucky, and ended up driving in a 45 degree angle to the road, but moving straight ahead at about 7 mph with the traction control clicking away as people passed me, with that wtf is this guy doing look edited It took me roughly 10 minutes to go about 1/4 mile, oh well I got her home and now she sits when it snows.

Dunlop Winter Sport M3
Apparently these are great winter performance tires for the price. I'm getting myself a set of them.

Ice with summer tires, no, you got lucky
I've got the Dunlop M3s in the stock size and they are great. I've driven through a couple nasty winter storms and they performed really well. The back tires will break loose with too much throttle but the cars movement is very predictable. With the stock summer tires I would been stranded. So many people drive around with the wrong or worn tires and I just watch them slide into all sorts of things.
Dealers should be more informative, mine didn't say a word until I specifically asked just to see if i could work the winter tires into the deal... I couldn't...

Thanks all, but for the most part I have a toyota pick up that I drive in the snow. This was the first time that I got stuck in it, so if anyone can help please suggest a very cheap set of rims that I can get and I think I will get the Dunlop Winter Sport M3. Thanks again.
