exactly...

Even though I understand everyone has a right to do whatever they want to their car, everyone is also entitled to an opinion, so ...

Just like i've told previous owners wanting and putting 20"s and Chrome wheels and all the other Ghetto BS on the 8...keep it in the ghetto....the 8 has no place for the Thugged out look...it's MAZDA!! not a Navigator, Escalade, or whatever the hell you need to drive with 40" rims to have people LOOK at you...

or while your at it...go ahead and order some spinners for those rims and chop it up partner...they have them on Ebay for @ $400....

they are 20" ADR rims, they were for the show only the car could not drive on them (incorrect offset or something) the owner is a local shop owner and i talked to him about his car before he went to SEMA.

Why does chrome signify GHETTO?? I personally do not like all the after market rear wings that make the car look like a space ship, but each man, woman to his/her own. Personally, I like the chrome look.

Chrome is considered to be bling bling

And bling bling is considered ghetto!

So chrome equates to ghetto!

Used to like Chrome, but not anymore, it just looks cheap, I'll take a nice set of non-chrome rims any day.

So have we taken a closer look to see who all are wearing BLING BLINGING these days? Who all are listening to Rap? Again please define GHETTO and what does chrome have to do with it? Those persons who wear platinum w/diamonds are BLINGING. Would Catherine Zeta-Jones be GHETTO for sporting that huge ROCK SHE WEARS?

Chrome isn't necessarily ghetto. They just don't fit with sports cars.

Thank you EXA....that's what I meant...

I have mixed feelings about it, when you really get down to it...

Don't get me wrong I was in the car show business when I owned Car Tunes and Sound Effects...so we built many vehicles that were dressed in Chrome...BUT chrome used to be known for it's durability reason being it was used as bumpers and such on '50-early '90 cars...now it's all about the BLING and that just has no place on a sports car...I built a few Offroad "Show" Vehicles one a 1984 CJ-7 that was at one time featured in 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers quarterly mag...It won quite a few "show" titles and trophies and such but if I owned it would I have taken it offroad...HELL NO!!!...IT WAS NOT PRACTICAL...

The same principle applies to how I view cars like the RX-8...CHROME SUX has no place on the 8...

but just the same, I'm not fixing up your car and it's not mine it's yours so have a good time with it and if I don't like it...who cares...i'll just be an ******* american and use my right to speak my opinion...

Ghetto I guess can be used in the same context as "rice" has on the forum....

To me ghetto is all about having flashy **** on your car that has no place; you just want it there because despite whether or not the majority of the attention is negative you're still getting attention...i mean let's look at it this way, most people looking to get (how do you say it, ebonically correct..) twenny-fo's...don't ever inquire about how the difference in rim weight and size effects performance of their "ride"....do they care Hell no...it's all about getting that glance...

but if that's you and you need a car with flashy **** to get attention ..hey more power to you...i need a car that gets me to wear i'm going, the faster the better...if what i have put on my car attracts attention well...it wasn't intentional...

Disclaimer: Now I'm not placing EVERYONE that gets chrome put on the car/truck/SUV...into the "I want attention" category...i'm just saying from experience that's the majority...

Oh yeh USCEric...I'm an Auburn grad...thanks for SPANKING us in football this year!!!...LOL....

hahaha u guys are funny. HRE DOES NOT CHROME THEIR WHEELS they POLISH THEM! They look similar, but POLISHING takes material off the wheel, chrome is adding more to the wheel. Polishing and chrome also make cleaning a bitch and they get dirty extremely easy.

Everyone is entitled their own style, but chrome is a waste, polish it!
