Falken tires in Vancouver on my RX8

I just picked myself up some new Falken Ziex 512 Tires from volco. Size of them are 245-40-18. Im pretty happy that i got new tires to replace my stock since it started snowing in van. But I personally wanted the Toyo Proxes 4 and this was a store decision purchase. I feel a bit uneasy with my new purchase cause i want these tires to mainly do well in the snow and rain. Just enough for me to get to west van and back from ubc (snows alot at ubc) If anyone has any good things to say about these tires for vancouver winter use please write cause im gonna continue feeling uncomfortable until i can truly feel confident with these tires.

I just got a set of FALKEN FK-415's 245/40x18's for my 8 and put them on a set of DIP 18x7.5 wheels. Sticks to the road like glue.

we dont get "real snow" in vancouver.... only wet snow...melts as soon as it hits the ground.. and it only snows for like 3-5 days of the year.

You should be fine. 512's are M&S rated.

So far im pretty happy with the tires. I did a few test brakes on some slippery parts of the road and they did the job of stopping. However, i noticed when i went for a drive and accelerated on the road i almost felt like i was hydroplaning the whole time but i really wasnt. Kinda wierd but nonetheless im still in good health. The tires cost me just under $1000 and i dont think volco did any balancing, i think they just put my tires on. I'm hoping that i wont have to balance and do a wheel allignment and etc... I feel for you redish. I felt trapped in my rx8 last year when it snowed. I hated it. The stock tires seriously must be replaced if your going to drive in the winter. Also i live in point grey so it snows alot here on the ridge so next time it snows hard i'll hopefully write about a good experience with my new purchase.

I'm sure Volco did balance your wheel/tires....As far as the alignment goes...you should have it done at a good shop once a year or anytime you change the ride height on the car. If you alter it it will change the toe...and could cause really fast tire wear. I went back to stock for the winter...from JIC's really low....I'll post how much the alignment changes later tonight when I get back from the alignment shop

Cheers
