ok thread revival, ok so im pretty sure im going to be getting these for my 8 on my base model 16's at a size of 225/50-16, now the tread rating is 200 on Tirerack. I dont think im going to Autocross anytime soon but i go on a ton of spirted driving, how long would these last miles wise? i mean i get a discount on them but id like them to last awhile... any ideas how long miles wise these will last without autox?

if you are not going to auto x or do track days. they are wasting money and miles..

i have them. great tires. but i do track weekends. my guess it they might go ~ 18k miles on the street..

look at a 300 treadwear tire in the high preformance summer series.. if you get no snow where you live.

and as you have an auto.. i would take a long look at the kumho spt.

see for the tire size of 225/50-16 their listed at $127 at Tirerack but my father works at Honda and at the dealership he works at they have a partnership at Discount tire, so i could get a discount on the Z1's, 18k miles is pretty good is it not? i mean for a teen i think thats a pretty good amount of milage no? and the only difference in the Kumho SPT is better tread rating i thought? i mean i always want the best tire i can and if i can remember correctly the Z1 spanked the SPT's no?

you cannot use the full potential of the spt or the z1 on the street..

so z1 maybe 18k miles or spt very likely over 30k miles? btw, have had the spt on the track. it did well..

at the age of 16 with an auto. why **** away money for performance not used?

my question would be where in tx?

Currently live in the DFW area, its only got below 32 degrees and handful of times, and your right about the tread life heh but i mean my parents pay for normal wear and tear of tires so im due about right NOW, heh im bald right now. But im always the one that wants the best of the best.

Im the guy that would save up all his money to get the best of the best even if it took ages, plus if i get a discount of the Z1's why not ya know? My comment might of sounded snobby but im really not, its just the Z1's are crazy good and it would be amazing to get them especially at a discount ya know?

you are missing the point, crazy good unused is pissing in the wind..

like the one that got away.. z1s at a discount vs a 300 treadwear tire. do the math.. you will lose..

if you really want real ideas send me a pm..

I have the new Dunlop Direzza D1 Star specs, 200 treadwear. Awesome tires. There is a little road noise, but anyone with a catback can't hear that anyway. They are extremely sticky, wear very well, and don't make a lot of noise when being pushed to the limit. So you aren't squealing all over the place.

I have the 245/40/18's. Great tires.

Love my Z1 Star Specs, much much better than my old SPTs that didn't really last that long the way I drove them anyway. Yes, they're rather noisy, but expect that with any extreme performance tire.
