Do i need an alignment???

hey guys i have noticed on about three or four stock rx8"s that the inside of the tire wears alot faster than any other part of the tire... is this normal??? is there any way to change the alighnment to make it wear evenly cuz i just ordered some new tires and i dont want to replace them in like 3 months???

They do tend to wear on the inside rears. My fronts wore evenly when running stock 18s.
The rears happen more often as far as I understand due to wider rims. The wider you go the more likely it is to wear on the inner side of the tire.

Have yours shown advanced wear? you should get alignment done every time you get new tires regardless, imo. Once a year alignment is standard for lots of people.

the #1 culprit for uneven tire wear are excessive toe settings on the alignment

The answer is always yes. An alignment can never hurt you.

if your camber doesn't look bad, then it's probably your toe.

Think of it this way. The amount of toe determines how fast the tire is getting scrubbbed off. The camber determines which part of the tread takes the brunt of the scrubbing.

The RX8 comes from the factory with toe-in all around, and negative camber (-1) in the rear only. (Maybe a little up front, around -0.3) I had my car aligned with zero toe in the front and -1 degree camber. The rear has -1.4 degrees of camber with about 0.1" of total toe-in. The rear is where I see inner tread wear. Next alignment will be zero toe all around.

OK ya sorry about that guys....my car is a stock 2004 6 spd with 52000 miles.the tires that i had before were dunlop sp 901 that were a 245 40 18 on stock 8 wheels then i bought some dunlop direzza 101 in 225 45 18. and now my new rims and tires are 19 inch sport max 8.5 front and 9.5 rear with 235 35 19 all around (guy that i bought them off had this size) the tires i just bought for the rear are falken 452"s in a 245 35 19 the fronts are still pretty good but im gonna get some 235 35 19 when they need to be replaced.
