I need an opinion

Alright. I have an itching to buy some mods but I need some one to get me off the fence. I will be buying these two mods in the near future.

-Enkei RP F1's 18X9.5 45mm offset w/ TOYO T1-R 275/35/18's for $2100 from Good-Win-Racing... unless someone knows where they are cheaper

-Tein Basic Coilovers for 700ish depending where i end up buying them. And yes, I'm pretty much set on these. I know most people will tell me to get coilovers that cost twice as much but i'm a big fan of the "bang for buck," not perfection. But please let me know if these are a horrible mistake.

So here are my thoughts. My original plan was to go coilovers then rims. But I live in Washington and the rain has started with no end in sight. So im thinking I'm probably not going to be whipping around as many corners as i was hoping to. And the fatter tires maybe a better choice in the rain.

I would have to wait if i went with the rims but i could buy the coilovers today if i wanted.

Get me off the fence!

fatter tires are not better in the rain. ride height does not matter in the rain.

Going fast around corners is effected by the rain. My #1 reason for getting Coilovers would be for cornering. Therefore, my decision to buy coilovers is effected by the rain.

And here it rains for weeks at a time. Not small downpours like it does down in FL. If I'm going to get coilovers it may be a while before i actually get to get a good test run out of them.

As for the tires. That's debatable. But wheels and tires look good rain or shine.

My 2 cents...

Yes, it rains here... a lot... but not much snow. I got Kumho Ecsta ASX all weathers last October as a cheap alternative to buying serious snow tires, but better than my stock Potenzas for colder weather. The size is a tad wider than my stockers. And I hafta say... we FLY around corners pretty much the same as we do in the summer, and this is in pouring rain... seriously.

FYI - if you're close to Seattle/Bellevue - go on the drive to Leavenworth with us on the 21st. You won't regret it. Go here for details:

I'd get the springs first for looks and handling, wheels second.

Yes, i know it rains more in FL than it does in WA. However, when rains it drizzles and does not stop... it's lame.

As for the ignoramus comment.. i didn't ask do coilovers help in the rain or do fatter tires help in the rain. i just wanted an opinion which order i should get them in, considering...So why would his input be any use to me? I don’t mean to be ungrateful but I've seen hundreds of Swoope's posts and he manages to be cynical in all of them. I'm surprised he didn't just say "search."

I saw that drive earlier on the NW forum and I was thinking about it. I was supposed to have plans but their not set in concrete. I may be up for it but we'll see. Thanks for the invite.

And i think i've decided on coilovers. Thanks for the input all...even you swoope.

really,

i dont say search very often. as it is hard now... i not toss in a link.

and i stick by what i said.. i would do the susp first. and the wheels tires later.

that is from a performance point.. you mentioned looks, which is a different topic.. then it does not mater..

now as to the 275 that is a great idea if you plan on putting the car on the track or autoxing it..

for the street na. well we are back at looks...

i also think the choice might be dictated by amount of life in the tire you have.. get the most out of them..

If you do springs first, car will look and handle better. If you do wheels first, they'll look good but without drop you won't appreciate it as much.

Therefore, springs > wheels or BOTH at same time for best results.
