Discount Tire Direct offering $100 off a set of tires through Oct. 20
FYI, Discount Tire Direct is currently offering an instant $100 discount on any set of tires you order through their website between now and this Saturday (October 20th): Link to Discount Tire Direct's website
Shipping is also free, but you do have to pay tax. This discount applies to ANY tires, in ANY size, but they must be ordered through the website. I just ordered a fresh set of 225/45-18 Kumho Ecsta SPTs for the RX-8 for $368 shipped. Just thought some others might be interested as well.

I actually just used this - and they take $100 off a set of four rims, too. That's $200 off.
Also, they'll take your order over the phone AND include the discount!
I just bought four MB Seven X 17x7 rims, four Hankook iPike tires and four TPMS, everything mounted, balanced, and shipped for $889.

When did this offer begin?
I'm pissed because I just bought a set of SPT's from them a week and a half ago.
BTW, no sales tax at least shipped to California. Altiain, did you pay sales tax because of your being in Texas?

Here's some more info that may help you guys.
Discount Tire and America's Tire are the same company. The vast majority of the brick-and-mortar shops are America's Tire. You can mail-order Direct and have them shipped to a local America's Tire.
HOWEVER, if you do that, they will charge you $20 per tire for mounting and balancing instead of $11 per tire if you buy the tires in-store. If you buy at the store, the price is higher AND you get charged sales tax. The in-store price on the website is $125 per tire (before sales tax).
So here's what I did. I called a local store as well as the DIRECT phone number . The guy in charge from DIRECT is named Bob. Bob said no matter what, they were not going to lose me as a customer. Bob actually called the local shop and talked to the same guy I talked to and encouraged him to make the deal. Bob then told me the people at the local store would of course rather I buy from them so they will probably match the DIRECT price. He said if they don't, then call back and buy from DIRECT.
Indeed, the local store manager matched DIRECT's price (that's with sales tax, blah blah, etc., everything included!). HOWEVER, now the mount and balance would be $20 ($80 for a set of 4) per tire instead of $11 per tire.
But here again they price matched!!! I showed them the receipt from my previous mount and balance of $60 and the manager said he would match it. Even if you don't have a receipt, I suggest you call some local shops and get their price for mount and balance. I bet America's Tire will match it. They also will match Tire Rack, except their price is cheaper than Tire Rack, which charges sales tax (Discount Tire Direct apparently does not charge sales tax to some states).
Oh yeah, one last thing. The tires, whether you buy in-store or through Direct, get free life-time balancing AND rotations. The free life-time rotations is what did it for me.
Good luck.

The guy on the phone said that the rims would work with my 8 and said that he'd exchange them if they didn't.
I'm not sure about the bolt pattern though - I'm not an expert on this and basically had to have my friend and the Discount Tire guy walk me through it. I highly recommend calling though - I talked to Perry and he was very good.
Mine have shipped and I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival... I'll of course post about the result.

He has snow stuck in all sorts of random places under his car after he's done, too. Good stuff.
I'm not sure I'll ever be willing to do that to my 8, and without AWD, I'd be toast anyway. Some people are braver than we are, I guess!

yeah, they surely are!
you people in MN must be very confident with the ice there (now i see MN is definitely colder than NE). I would worry about what if some part of ice is not stable enough --- dont forget there is a big lake under you ~~~

For those (like me) in Ohio, the $100 off is still good until 10/27. It's $512 out the door for Kumho SPTs after the 100 bucks off. I think I'll hang on to my 500 clams until spring and then see what deals are offered.
