Cutting springs inside...

Before I get bashed on hear me out.

The reason we don't cut springs is because the spring wouldn't fit properly on the stock strut/shocks and the ride is bad. But what I'm developing an adapter plate that will sit on the strut and make the spring sit properly on the strut after its cut. Thus making a better ride, and less problems. If anyone is interested in a product like this let me know....

wronnnnnggggggggggggggggg

read up on spring dynamics.

You cannot cut a progressive spring and retain the same spring characteristics ...

But the "plate" would help with the cut spring and the ride

You know how many good ideas are ridiculed at first, then eventually accepted a long time later? This is not one of those.

I'd love to hear more on this spring cutting theory. Sounds technical....and well thought out...like massive spoilers on DDs.

I wish Rx8club came with a feature that allows users to highlight other users when they are posting. Not necessarily block them, just helps us notify that they have no idea wtf they're saying.

Why are you going to all that work to cut so little off?
When springs are cut, they usually cut a turn or more off. Then the springs will end up being softer, which is totally opposite of what everybody wants. On top of that, your going to bottom out more because of less suspension travel on these softer springs. And, don't torch cut the springs. That will make them softer yet.
These plates that you are having made are likely to be half the price of some of the more budget priced springs.

I'd imagine a custom set of milled aluminum or even steel adapters to cost significantly more than a set of springs too .

So.... We cut springs as a super cheap way to lower the car. Then we pay good money to raise it back up and have softer suspension on a sports car. Tell me how this would in any way benefit somebody?
