Couple of questions

Hopefully im posting in the correct section as im new to the forums so sorry in advance for the mods if they have to move this sucker around

I recently bought a 2004 rx8 GT Ti-G. I have a couple of things planned to put on the car but im not sure if it will all "work."

Here we go:

I plan on lowering the car with either just lower springs, just shocks, OR maybe even both if i can find the money. I have found a couple of things and after doing lots of hours on this forum reading posts and topics im still a bit confused about some things. Ive found RB springs they say it lowers the car .5 inch. But if i got these i would want shocks that could maybe lower the car as well .5 inch. I heard some of the Koni's did this? But if that didnt work out i would probably get the H&R springs that supposedly lower the car 1 inch all around and keep the stock shocks (or get aftermarket shocks that wont lower it anymore)

I have 225/45z R18 95W. Dropping the car like this i want to make the wheels flush with the body so ive found 25mm Ichiba wheel spacers. Now with dropping the car that 1 inch total approximately with either combination will i have to roll my fenders? or will i have a problem with them rubbing or scraping ?!

What if i ended up getting new tire size say 245? would i have to get new rim sizes as well so that they will fit correctly?

What about a camber kit?

sorry for all the questions!! I just dont want to buy something and it not work so I figured all the members here could lead me in the right direction!

Thanks for the help in advance!

you do know that there is a sticky in the wheel, tire, suspension forum that addresses this, right?

245 tires with 25 mm spacers will effectively be like a 20 offset wheel. That will require a heavy roll to not rub if you drop the car an inch.

Sorry i didnt make clearer haha. If i did end up get 245's i wouldnt use the spacers.

But with the 245's would i still be able to use the stock rims? or do i need to change those in order to fit the tire?

Shocks do not affect ride height in any way no matter what brand you go with.

So im guessing that when they advertise it could lower your car another half an inch on top of the lowering springs they lie?

As stated here

They must be getting the half inch in the manufacturing somewhere. spring pirtch is lower or shock length overall is shorter. The price math however doesn't make sense from my seat. That set of shocks costs $716 plus tax plus shipping. The racing beat springs are $250 plus tax plus shipping direct from racing beat. Thats $966 not including shipping. figure shipping on those two items will put you at about $1000.

For that money you could get a nice set of adjustable coilovers shipped for free. You get get to choose from your .5 inch all the way up to 3-4 inches. I know you say you don't want to be slammed but it would be nice to have the option to if the mood ever strikes you. Not to mention adjustable coilovers look damn sexy when someone squats to check out your suspension setup.

It would nice as hell thats for sure. Although for the prices your probably right if i went with both, i would be better off getting the coil overs. But i guess the most reasonable thing for me to get is just the lowering springs.

Would i have to roll my fenders if i dropped it say 1 inch with my current tire and rim set up AND with the 25mm spacer? If i have to roll the fender for that ill just go with the .5 inch drop

And also what about if i did the stock rims with 245's on them without the spacer and a 1 inch drop? would i have to roll them then?!

ahhhhhhhhhhhh

No, you can not get a "nice" set of coilovers for that price. Koni's and springs will outperform most coilovers under $2k and ride much better. If you want a **** ride with terrible valving and spring rates just to be low, then $1k coilovers are for you.

Even though it isn't supposed to happen, koni's have given multiple (read: almost all) users more of a drop than the stock shocks. It's been debated countless times, so no reason to debate it more here.

OP, there is a thread dedicated to stock wheels with 25mm spacers. There is also a "will it fit" thread. They are hard to miss and are huge.

A quick answer is, no, you won't have to roll with 225's on stock wheels with spacers at a 1" drop. If you went to a 245, you might depending on your alignment settings. Yes a 245 will fit on the stock wheel.

Why should I do your homework?

Fuz was kind enough to clear it up for you. This is where you should have started http://lmgtfy.com/?q=site%3Arx8club.com+245+tires

hm considering it doesnt specifically say they are talking about a 18 inch rim i could have guessed a 19 inch, which then its not correct information for me.
