Coilover Options - Megan Racing / Tein SS
Please Note: I have started this thread instead of continuing on the conversation in a related thread in the Multimedia section. I feel that the discussion of coilovers is more appropriate here.
Seeing as I am looking for a Coilover set for the car, I have found these:
Megan Racing Coilovers - Street & Track: RX8 2003-2008 | Ultra Racing Canada
With 8kg front and 6kg rear rates, I am assuming that those numbers will mean sufficient daily driving use, as well as stiff enough for the track. Am I safe in assuming this? I have read over many threads to get as familiar with this mod as I can for the time, now I just need to clarify this and a few other things.
Secondly, I have read through a few threads here regarding these, but none that are updated since they moved from 12kg/10kg to the 8/6. Does anyone have any experience with the 8/6 setup, and would you recommend it?
I am also considering a set of Tein Super Street that a member here is selling, but I am unsure of what other parts I would be needing for the install, as I am not familiar with suspension upgrades (yet).

^ Those are the ones that a member here has up for grabs. At $850 shipped, its not that bad of a deal (About $200 less than new). One issue I am having, is whether or not just the spring/shock combo itself is all I need for the install? I know from new, they come with spring seats, dust covers, and a bunch of other stuff.
So my question is, regarding the above Forum Ad link, with those Tein SS, will I need any additional components to complete the install? If so, what would you figure?

Assuming the wrenches to adjust the height are included, you will not need anything else to install them. All you have to do is remove the old strut assembly and replace it with the coils.
Thanks for the input. By the sounds of it, the wrenches to adjust the height / damper are not included. What are the options then?
So what is everyones thoughts on Tein vs Megan, vs say, Stance, etc? The car is a daily driver (well, weekend mostly), and I have tracked it a few times and will in the future. Not much tracking, but a little here and there.
I will be installing those Megan Racing Coilovers in the next few weeks. Just waiting for sway bar endlinks to come in. Not sure if i would recommend them yet or not. 
I would think that 12/10 would have been too stiff anyway for mainly street use? Same situation as me. Daily driven with very little track use.

Megan, d2, stance, powertrix are almost the same. They perform worse than koni yellows with decent springs, their shock dynos are all over the place, the hydraulics aren't even comparable to those found on real coilovers and each adjustment does something different on every shock, every time.
Stay away from cheap coilovers.

Basically summed up as you get what you pay for. The above mentioned coilovers I guess would be ok for daily driven cars who don't see any track time, the dampening does make a difference in feel, but I wouldn't doubt that they yield different results to each shock.

I thought the argument against the cheap ones was that each click does NOT do anything with each adjustment.
Woohoo I win! J/K.Also from what i gather they are all put on a shock dyno and pair matched before they leave the factory. They record the numbers under the dust cover. I took a couple pics of mine FWIW. They have shock dynos posted on their site. (Not that i fully understand them anyway). As a typical everyday driver though how would I even know what performance is?

Short story: they don't like semislicks, the hydraulics are brittle and soft... the hard springs mask this.
After a few hot laps i had no damping... the car was so undrivable i thought I overheated the tyres.
It turns out it was a shock problem.
Got back home, rebuilt them and tested them.
After seeing the results I sold them and bought a set of Ohlins. My life is definitely worth more than the price of these shocks.
Oh, don't be fooled by ISO9001 standards and TUV certifications. There are so many ways to get them

For an update, I ended up getting the Powertrix Road / Track ones. Had a shot at some used Stance GR+'s, but wanted new so I knew what I was getting.
@bse50 - I've only ever heard of good things from the Powertrix coilover setup. Did a lot of research and talked to a lot of people who have owned them for quite some time and everyone seems to be quite happy with them at least!
