$4000-5000 wheels, lowered like I am, and in Montreal? Might as well give your money to Madoff.

Lets not start a Real Deal Wheel Debate here. Afford what you can and build your ride. That's how it always should be.

afford what you you can buy? buy used wheels then, if not save for the wheels you want instead of making an investment that may cost you a wheel replacement in the future.

i mean why risk it? because of cost?

personally i saved money for a while before purchasing new wheels.

What does it matter if its authentic or not? Unless you're tracking your car, knock offs will work just fine. They still roll...and I've seen authentic wheels that shatter just like reps do. Granted, authentic might last longer. Plus, buying used means you have to wait to find them in the specs you want, the color you want, and hopefully close by so you don't have to pay shipping. A lot of companies offer free shipping on new wheels. Can't always get a seller to ship your wheels for free. And might I add that no one here EVER said that reps were better than authentic, just more affordable. And why do you honestly care so much about what other people put on their car?

why do i care so much? it takes business away from companies like "wedsports" ,"rays", and "work wheels". remember HKS usa? they left because of all the replicas on ebay. rep companies make it harder for those who are looking to purchase authentic products. thats why i care.

Unless you own or own stake in one of these said companies, I still don't see why you should care.

did u not see my point? i enjoy authentic products, so do other consumers. if you do not care about these companies failing because of replicas, then you are blind...

would you buy a ebay turbo kit or would you buy a greddy turbo kit?
would you buy knock off nikes or buy a real pair?

why sell your self short?

we are suppose to help support these companies not let them fail because we do not want to pay the prices. if you can't afford to be in the game then dont be.

we dont care about your opinion in this thread, this thread is about posting pics of varrstoen wheels not peoples opinions on varrstoen wheels.

but i do agree, if you do enough searching, you can find a set of authentic wheels for a good price, Ravspec has Advan TCII's that are discontinued with pretty decent concavity for i think 1600. Wheels that cost 4k when new usually cost 2-3k used depending on how many times they have changed hands.

Ideally varrstoen wheels are not that much of a bargain when new, but ive seen the te37 reps used go for 600 with tires, now thats a good price. Its nice driving on something that you know you can easily replace if something goes wrong.

Now let this be the end of this stupid wheel debate.

we dont care about your opinion, how have you not gotten the hint. people will always buy replicas. theres nothing you can do about that.

its a business. in this economy cheaper pricing is what is going to get the business, especially when the products look exactly the same and the buyer wont be tracking or autoxing.

why should we try to help those companies? people who want authentic are going to buy authentic, people who just want the looks are going to buy the reps.

should we all buy ferraris and lamborghinis because ford, toyota, chevy, porsche, mercedes, bmw all make more money than them?

the analogy you use doesn't make sense... neither of the manufactures make replicas of the same car/product. but good try..

it seems like people try to find a way to justify purchasing a rep product. its not about the economy or just being plain broke. if you can't afford the real thing, then just save your money until you can, instead of rushing it.

I have to disagree with you here. I would totally rock replicas, as long as they are not trying to misrepresent themselves as being originals (Volk, Advans, Work, Etc) or confuse consumers in to thinking so.

Further, I really can't justify spending so much money on rims just because they are name brand, so then I can try to impress other guys with them (Pretty sure girls don't care if they are original or not). For the most part I think the replicas and original wheels have about the same amount of durability (I have seen both go to hell)

All that being said, I have some Volk wheels on my FD but as I said I would rock some of these Varrstoen replicas in a heartbeat. They look quite nice.

I'm with jtripp on this.
But, this thread is not meant for that discussion, so I'll leave it at that.

Are you agreeing with him under the same logic that replicas hurt business? Just curious as to your thoughts.

PS: Sorry for continuing to hijack this thread, but it seems way derailed already. If the mods want to move my post somewhere, please feel free to do so.

My Target jeans fit just as good as any other. Am I putting J-Crew and True Religion out of business? I doubt it. And I'm not gonna save up another $300 for jeans. Just like I won't spend the extra $3,000 for authentic Volks.

Can we just come to the agreement that its to each their own? Arguing will lead us nowhere.

I agree

I feel this thread should be cleaned up and posts deleted. These debates are pointless and never ending. Here we have people dictating to us what we should and have to do or get the smurfity smurf smurf smurf out of the game but yet we are all doing what we want to do anyways with no care in the world and not giving a flying donkey fart...... go figure. This thread got skewed all sideways. Same crap happened when people talked about Rota's and shoot even XXR. Then you get Konig and throw Enkei in the mix and you have an effing plethora of imitators waiting to be dictated and put down by certain individuals because all they care about is status, owning the supposable "Real Deal". Have I lost all the whiners yet?........ no? I can keep going but to be honest and like the many, we all don't care about your opinions. This thread was started for people "Rocking" VarrStoen Wheels, SIMPLE.

All wheels sold here, be it replicas or originals must meet a certain a level of quality and safety and consumer have an implied warranty of merchantability and the company maybe liable if they breach that.

Plagiarizing? Are you speaking in the sense of copy the wheel design? If I recall correctly from my Intellectual Property Law class, I don't believe you can't have a copyright in wheel design because of the "functional" design, but like I said I could be wrong.

BTW, Jtripp06, you have a really nice looking car.

Oh? Not here to degrade? Ok let me reverse the questions on you. Do you know the meaning of degrade? I of all people really took offense to your remark and basically telling everyone to ship up or ship out. ( Does this analogy work better for you?). You come in like this bad *** and feel you need to tell everyone that if you can't afford to be in the game then don't be like they are not good enough to be. Here let me quote if for you.

And here is the meaning of degrade:
de·grade

   /dɪˈgreɪd or, for 3, diˈgreɪd/ Show Spelled [dih-greyd or, for 3, dee-greyd] Show IPA verb, de·grad·ed, de·grad·ing.
verb (used with object)
1. to lower in dignity or estimation; bring into contempt: He felt they were degrading him by making him report to the supervisor.
2. to lower in character or quality; debase.
3. to reduce (someone) to a lower rank, degree, etc.; deprive of office, rank, status, or title, especially as a punishment: degraded from director to assistant director.
4. to reduce in amount, strength, intensity, etc.
5. Physical Geography . to wear down by erosion, as hills. Compare aggrade.
EXPAND 6. Chemistry . to break down (a compound, especially an organic hydrocarbon).
COLLAPSE

verb (used without object)
7. to become degraded; weaken or worsen; deteriorate.
8. Chemistry . (especially of an organic hydrocarbon compound) to break down or decompose.

And don't bring in the safety claim because even " Real Wheels " fail. And to justify buying them used is rediculous because even then you are not supporting the manufacturer, your supporting the reseller. Oh and it's always been about status as you proved my point quite well already.

Yes it's the internet and you can voice yours and you did. What you failed to realize is no one gave a flying donkey fart but you egged on. If you feel the need to further do so start another thread and bash Varrstoen and stop clouding this one. Again as stated.....this thread is for people posting about their Varrstoen Wheels on their rides.

I don't know if your trying to be facetious or your being sarcastic with your question but your barking up the wrong tree bud. Think twice before you come in and belittle people.

I'm done, I stated my peace.
