Brought some Nankang NS2, very impressed...

My old tires were Yokohama ADVAN AVS Sports , great tires , but wore out to quickly for my taste and my wallet.

This is my senario, I drive a 110 miles round trip 5 days a week, sometimes i use my RX-8 , sometimes I use my Titan to keep the milage even on both vehicles. The Advans had a tread life rating of 180, unfortunately the tires gripped exceptionally well , but the tradeoff is they dont last long, they lasted 8 months , usually I look for a tire that can last at least a year or just a little over. So i opted to go with a cheaper tire that has better tread life, a little less grip , performs well in the rain , and mainly tires that won't be so hard on my wallet.

Well the tire tech suggested for my commute style with some weekend aggression , the Nankang NS would be a perfect fit. There cheap, they have a tread life of 200-220 (Harder compound) , have good grip, not great grip as the more expensive tires , and there good in the rain. So i said what the heck, I will try them.

I must say I was expecting the worst, but hoped for the best. After the install , had a good romp on the tires and a few highway runs with some twisty runs, i came to this conclusion about the tires, here is my take on them after 1 week. I'll post another review about them in 3 months.

1. Very smooth
2. Quiet
3. Strong sidewalls
4. Good bite going into tight corners , haven't broken loose unless i gave it more gas or let off the gas totally.
5. Performed exceptionally well in the rain, i really was expecting worse with a harder compound tire.
6. High speed stability seems very good
7.Quick lane change
8. Minimal tracking, my Advans tracked like a mother, probally due to the high grip, they seem to react to every imperfection, grade change, etc in the road. These tires don't seem to do that much. Wifey likes that, its scary ,all of a sudden going strait then the car shifts to the right or left because of road imperfections, not to mention annoying as well.
9. Clean Sidewall design, not really worth mentioning, but I like a simple side wall.
10. Paid 110 a tire instead of 286 a tire! My wallet likes that!

FYI went went to a 235/35/19 to a 245/30/19 up front, retained the 275/30/19 in the back, next time getting tires, i am going go to a 285/30/19 in the rear.

my car came with NS-ii when i bought it, they are simple summer tires for driving around town. Decent tread and grip but nothing to be overly excited about. I dont know how much they are but if it was up to me, i would get a set of SPT. On the track you cant really push them hard as they let go before the car does. Even on the streets they scream quite alot. my2c
