Brake service

My Mazda dealer just tried to sell me a brake service. I'm told that this is supposed to be preventative maintenance...... $80. Now I've owned many cars before and this is the first time I've ever come across this. Is this a normal service item now? I always thought it was just another item that was included with the regularly scheduled maintenance........

Yes this is a normal part of the routine service schedule every 24000KM - every third service check . It is a servicing/lube of frt and rear caliper sliders .
