AutoX/ drag racing wheels - Kosei 17x8
AutoX/ drag racing wheels - Kosei 17x8
Kosei K1-TS 17x8 wheels in Gold and Falken Azenis RT615.
I'm going to use these for drag racing and autox'ing.
These are much lighter than my current wheels, 19 Axis hiros.
Old wheels/tires :
front - 19x8.5 Axis hiros with 235/35/19 = 50lbs
rear - 19x9.5 Axis hiros with 275/30/19 = 55lbs
New wheels/tires:
front and rear - 17x8 Kosei K1 TS with 245/45/17 = 43lbs

Dark8, I decided on these since you had them and said they'd fit (45mm offset).
They're super light and a decent price.
A tirerack salesperson said the 17's wouldn't fit on my 6spd due to the big brakes, so I finally got ahold of Connor at tirerack and he confirmed they'd fit.
I wanted the grey except tirerack only had 3 in stock of the 17x8 and about a 2 month eta to get the 4th.
My first choice in tires was the new hankooks but edgeracing had 'em on backorder.
The acceleration is alittle faster. Taking it to the dragstrip soon, maybe tonight if I get ahold of my buddy.

ummm, for future reference super light for a 245 on a 17 x 8 wheel would be 35 lbs or less
you should have held out for a 245/40 tire, you gave up some good gearing advantage going with the taller 245/45

I got some video clips that I'll post up later.
wheelhop still a problem but the main thing is boost drops off quickly.
Peak boost of 6psi (42kPa) for 1sec then 3.5psi (25kPa) holding.
I read somewhere Greddy set it up to run like this since they couldn't get colder sparkplugs. I found 1 step colder leading plugs from Canzoomer. I also need to get it tuned.

there's a 235/40 and 245/40 available in the Yokohama Advan Neova, they're a bit pricey though
there was also a 235/40 HankookR-S2 available, in stock at Discount Tire Direct for $108 each + shipping
