hi guys after reading this forum for 20 pages. im planing to also buy thiscoilover for my r3. i just want to ask anyone knows how low u could drop bilstein if i could slam it down? and being my car an s2 r3 is there any difference on what shoul i take from my oem bilstein shocks? pls can som1 help me.... thank you

 

^ These coilovers will go very low on a Series 2 car, however you will absolutely ruin the car's handling properties by slamming it. Mazda designed the car to run at the factory ride height. Some handling improvements may arguably be had in some areas by lowering the car about 1 inch, but beyond that, you are trading performance for aesthetics, and that is a very poor trade in my opinion.

Moving from the R3 suspension to PSS9s will result in a much stiffer ride. My car is just on the edge of tolerable on the street--even with the dampers set to full soft. If you are not tracking the car or AutoXing, there are much cheaper and more comfortable ways to slam the car if that is your thing.

When I installed my PSS9s, I set them to the maximum recommended height according to the instructions. About one month later, I dropped the front 0.25 inches more, then had the car corner balanced and aligned for the track. The net result is a ride height of ~13.5 inches all the way around, and I would not want it any lower.

 

Just re-visiting this once again before I order parts. I think I have the rears covered, but in the pic below showing what's needed for the fronts, there are 2 black parts shown. The top one I believe is #10 on the diagram (bushing), but the other piece didn't appear to be mentioned in the replies as a re-used part. Can someone please clarify? Is the metal spacer (15) also re-used?

The metal spacer from the front is supplied by Bilstein. Use the list you quoted me on.

 

Okay guys, I've had the PSS9's for a while now, but haven't been able to install them because the car's at the shop. Hopefully next week I'll get them on.

Anyway I was adding in the OEM parts to the front assemblies and I was a little unsure about the double locking nuts that come with the Bilsteins. The instructions aren't specific and the diagram I believe only shows one nut. Where do these two nuts go in the order of assembly? I only remember there being one in the OEM setup.
