Alignment help

Need some type of alignment help. Tein S Techs, Koni Yellows, 275 tire. I got minor rubbing in the rear atm. Anyone have a base alignment spec I can use to take with me so I get in the ballpark?

Your running the same size tire and wheel as me, and I'm lowered on coilovers. Even before I got my alignment I didn't have a problem. But now I am at a -1.8 camber in the front and -2 in the rear and it is not even close to rubbing anywhere. I would say if you have at least -1.2 in the rear you should not rub at all.

So im now at -1.8 front and -2.1 rear. We went -1.5 in the rear and when he pulled it off the rack it was rubbing. Back up and went -2.0-1 and it settled at -2.1 so we called it good. So far so good. Im sure it will scuff during tire flex. Im either going to go ahead and fender roll or im going to climb under there with a 1 inch belt sander and take off 1/4 material. That will be way more than enough and **** it, never selling the car anyways.

roll your fenders.
over -2.0 in the rear = kiss the inside of your tires goodbye.

I'm running 19x10 wheels in the back with 275 Toyo T1R tires and I have no rubbing. (also on Konis + S-Techs)

Unless you guys are running the same make and brand of tire, comparing the size could be irrelevant. Also more negative camber in the back than the front promotes understeer.

Are you running a 40 sidewall? It seems like you should have this much of a problem in the rears.

Not always. I'm running -1.8 in the front and -2.0 in the rear. RB sways front and rear, and megan coilovers. Along with 275's all around, and at every autox event, no matter how dry the course is, I always get oversteer, bearly any understeer, even with the rears at full soft, and fronts close to full stiff for the coilovers.

Well I did say promotes vs. it does

As you pointed out there are many factors that go into it. Your setup counters what your alignment promotes

I swapped the rear wheels to the front and there is no uneven wear going on. Tread is down from the countless hard driving (over driving the car into slides) and drag racing.

Like pdxhak said, every tire is a little different than most. 275/35/18 Eagle F1 All Seasons. This was the best I could do to prevent scuffing.

I am rolling fenders here soon, when no idea. I put the car through its paces when I gave angrybumblebee a ride. I 'think' I heard it scuff once. But the more I think about it, I think it was his *** chewing a hole in my seat when the car was 4 wheel drifting out of a corner.

I abuse my car like a red headed step child. Sorry topgear

ps. So many haters about camber. bastards.

FL No One Will Align my RX-8!

Does anyone know anything about the rx-8 being any different than other vehicles when it comes to alignment? I've taken my rx-8 to both Firestone and Big 10 Tire, and both places told me they couldn't do the alignment (after they put it up on the rack)....it had something to do with not being able to measure the height on the right side? They said something to the effect of a 15" measurement, and that my best bet would be to go to a dealership. They also mentioned something to the effect that the computer wouldn't accept the numbers they were putting in.

Any ideas? Clearly, I know little about alignments...but I would really like to avoid paying twice the normal alignment cost by doing to the dealership.

Clearly they are idiots

Go somewhere else where they have a clue

If there are any racers or performance shops nearby...call them and ask who can do alignment to spec locally

What the hell?

I've had my 8 aligned at numerous places without any problems. A buddy of mine who recently aligned it commented on how easy it was, actually.
