Is that all around or just the rear? Front and rear are aligned up as well? Is the 265 the most practical tire (and when I say practical I mean nothing too small as to stretch and nothing too large to roll over) to use for a 9-9.5 width? I've seen your car pics Kane, looks good but I may be inclined to push them out a little more to almost be a hair past the fender.

 

Vlaze have you seen Marky's car? Do a search for him in this thread he is at 18x9.5 +15 and it almost sounds like that is what you are going for

 

I am staggered - look at my rears only for those numbers - my fronts are +38.

A 275 is perfect for a 9.5 IMO - but a 265 wouldn't be bad at all, and a 245 would be mildly stretched (again see my rears as I am on a 245).

Once I get back I intend to go 275 min in the back and 245 in the front, as I need the traction.... badly.

 

Yea I was looking at his and Canary's throughout the threads last week. I like the style but I'm not going to be slamming my car down as low as some of them. I think too low ruins it. I also don't want to overdo the tire size as to slow me down while it helps for corners I'm not tracking the car (yet) so I'm being finicky with all the options out there. And being NA I'm no where to needing what Kane does for traction either. No plans to go FI for another few years.

 

Well then a 245 on 9.5 might be a good compromise... they aren't stretched enough to really effect handling or tire life - but enough to help it clear the fenders.

 

THis is an ok shot - you can see my tires aren't stretched much at all, but I get a decent lip and no rubbing after the roll, and I'm on 19".

 

How did they hold up for you before you went all FI Kane in the tight corners? Hell, was there ever a time were weren't FI anyhow?

 

LOL just about always been FI - though for a while I was stock Greddy.

A 245 IMO is the perfect size for the 8 - I have pinned myself to the door in tight turns and as long as I didn't throttle over-steer my tires barely squealed.... anything bigger just adds weight without the power to compensate.

At 2:20 seconds you can see my trail brake into a 90 degree turn with no power oversteer at about 55 MPH... LOL, that was fun.

 

Hell with the dark shadows it's hard to tell and correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems you wouldn't even need a roll for your height. You're not lowered enough to touch the tires and I wouldn't think your suspension would travel far enough for it from what I can see but I could be wrong.

I'll be on 18's anyhow to not lose more performance going to 19, nor looking to go to 17's so it'll be a bit of messing with the height for the look I want and seeing if I got enough travel to clear it.

 

That is my winter set-up coil-overs jacked to the sky.... they are normally about an inch to an inch and a half lowered.

 

Want a picture of 9.5 +33 with 245/40? I can help you with that one.

Yea they are about 2" drop..

 

Rears are +33 and fronts are +38. Lowered about 1.6 in front and 1 in rear. -2.2 camber front and -2.1 camber rear. Fender rolling not required. I'll be lowering the rear another 1/4" in a couple weeks and moving the 5mm spacer to the front + getting a 10mm spacer on the rear. I was going for the "tiltmode dirty car" look.

 

Nice J8. IMO I'd leave the height as it is, the lines flow well over the fender with the tire circumference and is clean. That's what I mean by a fine line of lowering for looks in regards to how far to go. Too low and it just ruins the look IMO and goes for more of a bagged look.

235/40F 245/40R? Ask c4(whatever his SN is lol) Carson what his tires are. That's really close to his setup.

Or 245/40 all around... its tougher with lower offsets to do stagger on our car I think.

 

Carson is running 19×9.5 +12F and 19×10.5 +19R

dunno about tires though. Would say 255's but hella flush ain't my profesh...

 

255s, lol, not gunna happen. He runs 235s I believe.
