I mounted a set of 195's on a 10" wide wheels using propane....so don't tell me I've never done it.....but I think it's unsafe and stupid because all 4 of those tires failed due to sidewall failure.
They look cool..but if they get warm at all they demount in a catastrophic way

Aggressive fitment on any forum whether you are on s2ki, ziliva, evolutionm means aggressive, means being properly flush and low. Some of those people have never seen a road course, but a lot have, look at Risky Devils for example.

If you check out my rears you'll see a bit of a flare. Clearing the fender w/235/40's was no problem, actually. The problem lied in my ride height - though I did some adjustments of the bumper connector tab I was still hitting it when I got too low. It can be made to work with a tad bit more work but that work for spaced out wheels wouldn't be justified, for me.

Until someone can firsthand prove stretch to specifically cause failure, any critiques as such are pointless. I've read plenty on zilvia of stretched tire and both ends of the spectrum (proponents and critics) are present. Result? No one has really proved it any more *dangerous* as long as you follow certain parameters. Keeping an eye on tire pressures being one, only stretching on wheels with a seat for the bead being another.
The reason it looks so much is because of the low profile. T-Rex's setup could also considered the same amount of "dangerous" do to the manufacturer's recommended width.
The idea of this thread was to see other aggressive setups, not hear from those who have never run stretched setups (and for good reason, you all think its foolish!). Criticizing is one thing, blatantly down talking without trying out both sides of the block is thickheaded ignorance.
Great, we've heard from all of you how stupid, silly, dumb, "retarded", life threatening, world ending, and potentially apocalyptic stretching tires may be. Will that stop any of us form doing it? Nope. I'll tell you what, find someone who has walked both sides of the track, see what they have to say. In the mean time, keep the blind opinions to yourselves.
With response to the reliability of stretched tires. Check out zilvia (Yes, that 240 forum led blindly by drifting kids who know nothing) and then see how relatively mild these setups are. Actually, scratch that, you'll all most likely criticize their stupidity as well...
To each his own; For the record, I'm a fan of square AND stretched tires, as well as everything in between. Done both setups, enjoyed them for different reasons.

Whats bolded in is false but the rest I agree with. A taller profiled stretched tire isn't nearly as dangerous as a low profile tire. You completely sacrifice your sidewall when stretching a low profile tire. There is no buffer. At lower psi my tire has a footprint similar to a fully inflated tire of the proper width.

thanks for making my point, I'm not making a safety argument, simple logic dictates that the only thing aggressive about a 205 tire on a super wide wheel is pushing the stupidity envelope 
I suppose if you have the rear end setup to have no grip i.e. drifting, then you don't need any front grip either, fast & furious wannabes FTW

aggressive = fat wheels AND tires
next thing you know somebody will be arguing that those caliper cover kits that make you're OE brakes look like a BBK are aggressive too

Team, can't you accept different people enjoy trying different things? He was showing that a 205 was possible on a 9.5, or something like that. It's simply a different style.
Just so it's known, I was running a 235/40 245/40 in the pictures on page one.
You act as though you've got something to prove when in reality you're whining to people who couldn't care less. I respect you for what you've done and you're achievements but get off your high horse and go waste your time elsewhere.

What's crazy is the whole Drift Alliance team used to store their cars down the street from me. One day my friend called me up and asked, "Hey, have you ever heard of an orange and green rx8 on white rpf1s?" Me, "Sounds like Tony Angelo's rx8!" My friend, "It's down here parked at Marshalls taking up 3 spots..."
I think they're currently working on an 09. I know he received an 09 frame from Mazda late 2008 but haven't heard anything since...
