its a start.... You may need to do some slight mods to your fender like rolling. If however, you get your coilovers on and take it to a good alignment shop you may not need to.. but probably will need some rolling... but yes that's a start.
going for something like this?
Car: Mazda RX8
Wheels: 19×8.5/10 Linea Corse LC818 - Hyper Black (5×114.3 +30+38 73hb)
Tires: 225/40/19 Front; 255/35/19 Rear
Suspension: D2 Coilovers

I just don't see why you'd run a 295. That's what my buddy runs on his 911 on an 11.5 inch wheel. The tires are pretty sick looking on that but too much on an rx8. It'd look like a tubbed out muscle car.
turrrbo!

Rota just released a 17x10 +50 in the RT5 model. Perfect for stuffing some meaty tires without modding your fenders. Seem to be selling for around $800/set so pretty cheap.
Wheels, not rims!!

Granted I am not a fan nor a supporter for rep wheels. For $800 a set, I wouldn't mind using them as a set of beater track wheels. Seems like S2000 guys are having trouble clearing BBK's with them though.

Many wheels won't clear the Stoptech BBK on the RX8 either, but clear most others. It's one of the primary reasons most people don't use it.

and I can steer! Just had to modify the frame... with a hammer... and some anger.
But I'm pretty sure my rear is lower, we're on the same coilovers, maxed out. But I run a 255/35/18 in back. Unless you have the shorter spring, which I think you may have mentioned. I know dlum does.
