ON 245.45.18 on stock rims?

I'm desperately looking for used summer tires for my 2005 GT. Still running on winters and it's causing me anxiety on these 26 degree (Celsius) days.

Found some 245.45.18 Dunlop Direzza 101s for a decent price but I heard that size might rub the fender on turns? Using stock rims. I realize the speedo will also be slow a few percent.

Anyone tried this size and/or brand?

If you are broke enough to not afford tires, why do you have an rx8?

I just got a flat tire yesterday after work... on my bike.

Called AAA to tow my bike to the nearest shop, bike shop. Cost be $20 bucks cash money for a new tube & tire, mounting and allignment.

..I say ride a bike, way cheaper if you need new tires.

lol.. wow some people...

any way..

245/45R18 about 26.68 inches in overall diameter.

stock tire size:

225/45R18 is about 25.97 inches in overall diameter

that is within a +/- 3% change in overall diameter from your OE size.. That should be fine with little to no affect on the speedometer. The overall width is something you may need to look at..
OEM rim width is 18x7.5 rim.. (not 100% sure on OEM width) the approved rim widths for the 245/45R18 is 8-9.5 inches. So that would be your call to use it or not..

yea looks are obviously at the top of his prerequisites since he is broke. Go back to the aggressive fitment thread. 245 on a 7.5 is so much worse than 225 on a 10.

lol.. 225-on a 10 is insane and gross too... But good point.. if he don't have his Pringels stacked to get a better size he may have to get what he can get.. looks are gonna not have to matter and he may just need to go with the off road look....

lol. I didn't know I had to post my motivations to get an opinion on tire sizes. I'm selling the car this summer. Why would I dump $800 on new tires which won't affect what I get for it? I could sell it on the winters but I'd rather enjoy the car fully on proper tires. Plus on the off chance I don't sell it by the end of the season, I don't want to have to buy new winters to boot. Hence, used tires.

p.s. As for associating RX8s and wealth... You can pickup a used 8 for 8-10Gs easy. I bought mine new in 2005 so I guess that makes me a baller. :P

If you are planning on selling the car, you will have more success with stock size tires.

I agree. Even though I usually replace whatever tires are on any car as soon as I take possession, finding an inappropriate size installed on the car is a warning sign that the owner might not be very particular about maintenance & repair parts. Perhaps because they were already planning to sell it and figure it will be the buyer's problem.
