I think the most retarded thing about the original post is that he said:

And I know how to drive in the snow because i used to live in Mass, so that's not the problem
But if he "knows how to drive in the snow", then he should for damn sure know about those crazy things called "snow tires".

i have a feeling these threads will pop up every year around this time.. We should have a sticky saying "DON'T DRIVE THIS CAR IN THE SNOW WITH STOCK TIRES"

but most ppl will read that and think they're king **** and still drive it in the snow to see for themselves..

I messed up last year and got caught in the snow, well i didn't consider it snow (was less than 1cm) but my car tripped out.. I thought for sure i was going to get into an accident.. but i learned, hopefully other ppl will read these threads and realize that you shouldnt **** around in the snow unless you got snows on..

The thread I started specifically reference "on stock tires" in the title.

Having said that, I still could not have imagined just how bad the stock Potenzas, or any summer tire, for that matter, could behave in snow, as I never had a car with summer-only tires before.

For those who haven't been exposed to summer-only tires, my thread was intended as a warning to those who were in my position, as well as to glean some useful info.

Finally, the OP of this thread does seem to be relaying a personal experience, rather than trying to cut against some well established doctrine.

Maybe everyone should cut him some slack. Just my lowly 2 cents.

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuure. When you start a thread titled "@$!# The Snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and then proceed to say, "F@$@#in rear wheel sucks in the snow", there is absolutely no reason for slack to be given. None.

Conti Extreme Contacts are really good performance all seasons as well, IMO the Pirelli Pzeros aren't as good (I've onwed both). The Pirellis are usually more expensive, aren't as good in the snow, the Contis last longer, and the Contis have equal grip in other conditions. I'll probably try the Avons next.

Funny thing is, it got all of us to read it. And we already know what the outcome is when you run stocks on snow. I jsut got off the phone with the tire rack guy. I thought I'd try and buy em cheap. I'm not waiting any longer. A deal is not a deal if you don't have a car to put them on.

Hey all:

Dude with the original thread here. For all you haters on my topic, I got a couple choice words for you all.. Eat a dick! I'm not hating on the 8. I'm just hating on the 8 in the snow. And yes, snow tires would work, but I just bought my 8 and didn't know how to handle this situation let alone know that I have summer tires on my car. The car came with stock bridgestones, but I wasn't sure they were summer. Sorry I am not as savvy as you rx8 club computer/auto nerds who come on here every day and jack off to this site. Give a guy some slack for christ sake. If you are going to reply, then just give helpful advice and try to aid someone in need of assistance.

Some of you gotta be F@#$in kidding me. You come on here to bash people for for now knowing certain things about cars. We all have 8's, so lets try and get along, even if some of you haters deserve to get your necks broken.

Happy Holidays!!

your dealer should tell u whats up with the car. OH and a reading of the manual would tell ya about the tires too.

Perhaps your efforts would have been better spent when you came here by doing the slightest amount of reading in the Tires and Wheels section of the forum - as mentioned, there have been dozens, even hundreds, of threads discussing the performance of the stock TIRES in snow. Instead, you decided to log on just to vent and display your own ignorance for all to admire?

Your words were "the 8 sucked so bad".. "F@$@#in rear wheel sucks in the snow"..." DSC didn't work all that well either."

Right, you weren't hating.

You also claimed "And I know how to drive in the snow because i used to live in Mass, so that's not the problem." - so which is it, you know how to drive in the snow (in which case, RWD would have been no problem and you would have known about winter tires), or you didn't know how to handle the situation?

The car came with stock bridgestones, but I wasn't sure they were summer. Sorry I am not as savvy as you rx8 club computer/auto nerds who come on here every day and jack off to this site. Nice. You come here and whine like a baby, as mentioned parade your ignorance for all to admire, then claim to deserve some slack because you'd rather bitch than do a bit of research to investigate the problem and use this resource to find the solution? (WINTER TIRES!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's solely the tires, not the car or RWD or DSC.) You didn't ask for advice, you just wanted to bitch.

You come on here to bash people for for now knowing certain things about cars. We all have 8's, so lets try and get along
For someone who claimed to know how to drive in winter, you certainly proved yourself wrong. Once again, you claimed to know how to drive in winter, but are angry because you didn't know "certain things about cars", like about WINTER TIRES????

Yeah, we all have 8s, and this is our 3rd winter for many of us. next time you'd like us to get along, try searchnig and asking for help instead of ranting. That is NOT what this site is for (your bitch session), and as far as I'm concerned, we can do without. You have a 1 week ban to reconsider your attitude - this ban is for violating the forum rules against attacks on forum members - the posts we didn't edit out are evidence enough, the posts we deleted are way over the top. If you wish to resume participation in this forum after that, please bring a much gentler, nicer attitude with you.

To the other forum members who think the criticism of some forum members in responding was too harsh - sometimes, when a forum member lays his ignorance on the line in such an arrogant fashion, the flames are inevitable - I think they actually weren't to hard on this guy, considering his post.
