Is your 8 running good or like crap?
Just kinda want an idea of everyone's car to compare to my own.
1. How is/was your car running?
2. Miles on car?
3. If your car wasn't running good and now is, what fixed the problem? and if it was running good and you did somthing that made it run bad, what was it?(ex. new computer, intake, ect.)
Thanks for any responses!

1. No problems here. Car running like new. It has had its recall done and engine mounts changed. Apart from those mentioned, the car still revs cleanly and smoothly to and beyond redline. Have done 6 track days so far.
Not daily driven, but when out on the road it is driven enthusiastically! No low revs here.
Had the car since March 2004.
2. 25484
3. The only fix I can think of is an option from the factory to install FI in the future.
Still dreaming here!
On average, my car has had its fluids changed (oil, brake fluid) after each track day(s). I know it seems eccentric to change oil or bleed brake fluids after each event, but it does give me a sense of security that the car is taken care of. Hopefully, I can see the day I do more than 30 tracks days on my engine.
Transmission and coolant are changed yearly.

My 04 AT ran well but was very thirsty!
My 06 MT runs like a top even @ 0° F. Fires right up and ready to go in 90 seconds.
The stock tires "thump" for a few miles and the brakes don't like the cold weather much.

1. Runs like a dream (transmission is a bit notchy at times though, but nothing major)
2. Right about 49,2xx miles, I think. Hard-driven, too.
3. Only "performance" mod is the Borla cat-back. Just makes the car sound better. No real issues to report.

I've mixed emotions about it. Overall, its a good mod but there ARE some noticable downsides. Most will argue otherwise. I'm just keeping it REAL.

1. Running good now, use to have an exhaust problem, like it was burning too much
2. 68000K
3. The exhaust problem was solved by the emissions recall, i got a new Cat, and it feels like it starts better

Runs well generally. I've had a couple of driveability issues where engine gets rough at very low speeds (hard to modulate). The first time it was because my 2 leading plugs were messed up. Ran fine with new plugs (around 12000 miles). The second time was more recent, and seems to have been resolved by cleaning the MAF sensor.
Car has 21K miles.

1. 2004 6mt GT - Built Dec 2004, No problems execpt for stock tires thumping when cold. Did notice after the recall and new plugs, revs smoother. Note I would change plugs every 15k due to Rx-8 running rich.
2. At 14k not a daily driver. I do run the heck out of it, and I've done a couple of track days, looking forward to some more!
3. Mods are RP shifter (must have), REVI intake/duct (a must have again, cooler air, better throttle response, +mpg at highway speeds)

2005 AT Sportpackage.
A/C was charged wrong early on in it's life.
Lost a differential at 3000 miles, Mazda replaced it.
Few minor body trim problems. Black strip under rocker panels. Mazda replaced twice.
Daily driver 17,000 miles on her now. Runs like a champ.
Has Mazdaspeed twincan sport catback on it now.

Runs great. Only 5700 miles on it, so what else would you expect.
Had the 4206f recall done, can't tell any difference before or after.
Does lowering the front license plate bracket by one diamond - so it won't rub the bodywork above the grill - count as a mod?
The only issue I have is difficulty adhering to posted speed limits.

Mine runs better than it did new. But I premix, and change the oil every 3k miles on the dot. Plus I've swapped diff and transmission fluids twice now.
It has about 32k miles.
The headlights were replaced twice for film, rear tail lights replaced for having something loose in them. Lots of ECU reflashes, tires replaced twice, first time due to swapping up to 19" rims, second time due to a nail..

Thanks for you imput everyone! I was trying to match my problems to yours and I think I know what I'm gunna need now. Had cat problem, got cat replaced. Problem starts acting up again right when the recall hits, so take it to dealer for it now it only acts up in certin conditions. I think the cat is partially clogged. Anyways I do appreciate the feedback, LONG LIVE THE ROTARY!!! :P
