Worried newbie

Bought my first rx8 two days ago. Its a 53 model 230 with full leather and sat nav and all the bits. Goes well but am beginning to to think I made a mistake. In two days I have had the following problems; engine management light came on a hundred miles after I bought it. This is a lambda sensor fault and has remained unrectified so long that the cat has begun breaking up and it may not pass the mot. The cd player wont accept any cd, even brand new shop bought ones. It just tells me to 'check cd' and spits it out. On closer inspection the inside of the alloys are almost completely covered in corrosion(my bad for not looking more closely before buying). Is this common?? The heated seats work but are very ineffectual, never getting more than slightly warm. Are all of them like this? The seller also claimed he had changed the plugs but I took some bits off today and discovered plugs which look original!! I have always owned fast cars and expected high running costs, but am worried that this car appears really fragile! I do love it and I love the way it drives though, handles better than anything else I have driven in the price bracket. Any suggestions on the cd player and where I can get a cheap catalytic converter?

The CD player is definitely broke....can't even remember when is the last time I bought CD from shop. lol The cat should still be under warranty, 8yr or 100k mile, and it's transferable. OEM cat is expensive (if out of warranty)....might as well just get a straight pipe. lol

You should check with mazdarotaryparts.com since it appears that you are in the uk. They have a cheap stock replacement catalytic converter.
However getting a 100cpsi metal catalytic converter may be a good idea since they cost about the same.
Did you inspect the car's bottom before buying it? You have A LOT of salt up there, if the rims are corroded i wonder what the chassis etc may look like.

Thanks for the replies. The cat warranty thing is interesting. I will give it a go. I am sure they will try and wiggle out of it though! The chassis is good, I did check that. Wish I had spent longer looking it over, I got excited as I was wanted it so badly!! Is the cd player terminally ill then?
