Cooling fan clicking question
I am gonna go ahead and apologize in advance for being about the 100th person to ask a cooling fan question on here, but couldn't find this answered anywhere and would rather ask a dumb question than wind up leaving a problem unfixed...
When the cooling fan is cycling, is it normal for it to make a loud click every time it cuts on or off? I'm in Alabama (where it is still 80 degrees outside on November 1), so even when the engine isn't too hot, the fan still cuts on and off a lot since I am constantly having to run the A/C. It winds up that I hear a loud clicking sound about 4 times every minute or two when I am at idle and I can hear it over the engine. It doesn't seem like it could be that much of a problem since the fan seems to be working fine, but generally clicking isn't good so I figured I would ask...
So is the fan supposed to make a very noticeable click every time it cuts on and off, or is that some type of problem?
Thanks for any input

Extraordinary Engineering
The fans are switched on and off by relays. If it sounds like relays clicking open and closed then it's normal.
Are you sure it's related to the fans? Lot's of things click in the engine bay!

Yeah it does sound like it is probably just relays clicking open and closed. Just sounds a little louder than I would have expected it to be. But it is definitely the fan because the clicks are right when it is starting up and right when it is shutting off....
I just watched it do a couple cycles, and as far as I can tell it seems to be running perfectly fine...
Like I said, I only notice it when the engine is low enough to hear over. Which is sometimes when I am idling, but mostly when I have the car cranked and am standing outside of it... I guess I will just have to start cutting off the A/C if I'm gonna be standing by the car with it running so I don't have to listen to it click haha...
Thanks for your help
