Won't start after stalling

Hi I'm new to the 8, I stalled it today and it wouldn't start again for 10 minutes, the engine was warm as I'd driven 10 miles. Is this normal? Last service was 6 months ago

Ok, was my error with accelerator that caused stall, tried to start and it sounded like it was trying to start but didn't have the power. Left it 10 minutes and started no problem. Is there details I can add?

Compression

Very good chance the engine has low compression, AKA its dying, however don't let this scare you to much unless its an 04 model OR has over 100k miles because there is a 100000/8 yr extended warranty and Mazda will replace it for you if this is the issue. If its an 05+ model then take it to your dealer ASAP and have them do a compression test on it. I'm saying this from experience... I was teaching my ex how to drive a stick and she stalled multiple times, after a while the engine had a really hard time starting, I noticed it wasn't justa fter stalling but after the engine was hot anytime I'd have to let it cool for 5-10 minutes and then itd start perfectly, however the problem will only get worse, get it tested asap and hopefully they replace the engine for you at no cost, so it actually could be a good thing in the long run, I mean free engine!

You should be able to get a reman engine from Mazda for around 2~3k. If not, I would recommend contacting someone like Kevin Landers at Rotary Resurrection for a rebuild.

Maybe cost you around $1,700 after shipping if you can pull the motor and install it yourself.

Rotary Resurrection home of the budget rebuild.

Good Luck.

I am having the same problem... Called Mazda and talked to a tech there who is very Knowledgeable when it comes to the 8. I explained I have done coils, wires, plugs and decarbonization within the last 10k miles... He told me that it can possibly be the starter (only if it is a reman. not a "Mazda" starter) what happens is the remans are not insulated as well as a "Mazda" starter and the heat effects them. He said even though the engine turns it wont start until its cooled down because the starter is throwing a false code to the crank sensor.
so....When I get out of work I am climbing under to see if I have a reman. starter or not...then...gulp...I will have to get a compression test done.

^Never heard or read anything like this in here about remanufactured starters....I doubt the technician knows what he is talking about.
