Wierd Noise

Hi I am new to the forums but have a question

i have a 2005 RX-8 with 27000 miles on it and there is a wierd noise/vibration coming from the engine area. It is really bad when i put it into gear and then gets worse as i accelerate but then goes away a little once I get up to speed. I think it is affecting the acceleration but i dont know for sure. has anyone had this kind of issue? Please let me know thanks

well its hard to say and i dont have a video camera. I almost think it is a motor mount because of how much vibration there is. how can i know if it is a motor mount? but it is really bad when it is in gear and it is really loud when your inside the car. when you get out and pop the hood you can hardly hear it. it is an automatic transmission. Also my engine coolent light it on but i have plenty of coolent in there i dont know if this will help figure out what is going on.

coolant light is a known issue with the sender in the bottle. can either unplug it or replace the bottle

the vibration could be the motor mounts. If you have a jack you can get under the car to inspect them, or have a mechanic do it

you only need to physically inspect them. if they feel cracked worn and broken you need new ones, if they feel like new tire rubber your ok.

On the automatics, the symptoms you described are consistent with engine mount failure as outlined in the techincal service bulletin below. Your coolant reserve tank issue is unrelated. http://www.finishlineperformance.com...01-09-2062.pdf Hope this helps.
