Possibly flooded the engine if you shut it down before it was warmed up. Bad spark due to old plugs/coils would make it that much more likely to have trouble firing the engine, even after performing de-flood procedure (either the one in the owner's manual or other options you can find out about with a search on this web site).

Is your 2004 a manual or auto tranny? If manual - you might try getting it rolling to 20MPH or so and pop the clutch in second gear. See if this fires the motor for you.

you have a used RX-8 and you haven't bothered to change out parts that we all know can (and often do) fail prematurely? And you're surprised that it flooded?

thread title should be changed to, "I'm killing it!!!!!!!"

blinking CEL usually means misfire.
misfire is usually caused an issue with the ignition system. (coils, wires, plugs)
if it stays solid, try to get the code pulled.

dont worry about the shaking right now. You NEED to change the coils, wires and plugs. If still shaking, there are other reasons too. I dont know how well your taking care of your car but you may need to clean the MAF, and check the motor mounts too.

Just a K&N filter or complete aftermarket intake? You need at least one wire mesh in the assembly or you will get a rough idle. Did you read the thread about resetting the Eshaft? that can also help with the rough idle. As far as the intake, did you clean the MAF with MAF cleaner? did you recently add the intake or at least recently re oil the filter?

You need a screen to smooth out the flow.

Also checj the underside of the throttle body. Make sure the cap is on.
