Fouled sparkplugs

DocBeech 10-05-2010 05:24 AM

well then you need to change them.

VOODOO8 10-05-2010 11:30 AM

Possibly flooded the engine if you shut it down before it was warmed up. Bad spark due to old plugs/coils would make it that much more likely to have trouble firing the engine, even after performing de-flood procedure (either the one in the owner's manual or other options you can find out about with a search on this web site).

Is your 2004 a manual or auto tranny? If manual - you might try getting it rolling to 20MPH or so and pop the clutch in second gear. See if this fires the motor for you.

Jedi54 10-05-2010 11:39 AM

you have a used RX-8 and you haven't bothered to change out parts that we all know can (and often do) fail prematurely? And you're surprised that it flooded?

thread title should be changed to, "I'm killing it!!!!!!!"

danysrx8 10-05-2010 12:31 PM

Well I changed the sparkplugs and yeah it turned but there is this shaking that doesnt stop and th engine light is flashing. The shaking starts from the throtle body and it goes down all the way thru the cat
By the way it a manuel

Jedi54 10-05-2010 12:47 PM

blinking CEL usually means misfire.
misfire is usually caused an issue with the ignition system. (coils, wires, plugs)
if it stays solid, try to get the code pulled.

:evil_laug +1

danysrx8 10-05-2010 01:21 PM

I did pull out a code before all this happened they told me that it was the perge valve. What about the shaking how can u explain that

Bluerenesis 10-05-2010 01:43 PM

dont worry about the shaking right now. You NEED to change the coils, wires and plugs. If still shaking, there are other reasons too. I dont know how well your taking care of your car but you may need to clean the MAF, and check the motor mounts too.

Bluerenesis 10-05-2010 01:48 PM

read Pico's posts https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/rough-idle-when-hot-205640/

I love these threads :smoker:

danysrx8 10-05-2010 07:42 PM

Ichanged the coils and the spark plugs and the shaking still continues i checked the motor mounts and they are ok

DocBeech 10-05-2010 07:43 PM

is the ac on? exactly what is shaking? have you tried the search feature?

is the shifter shaking or the entire car?

danysrx8 10-05-2010 08:33 PM

No the ac is not on but before all this yeah if i would put the ac on and yeah it would shake.yeah the whole car shake and this tapping noise comes out. U could follow the shaking going from the the throttle body dount the headers and down the catalytic. Byt the way i have a k&n installed

Bluerenesis 10-05-2010 08:49 PM

Just a K&N filter or complete aftermarket intake? You need at least one wire mesh in the assembly or you will get a rough idle. Did you read the thread about resetting the Eshaft? that can also help with the rough idle. As far as the intake, did you clean the MAF with MAF cleaner? did you recently add the intake or at least recently re oil the filter?

danysrx8 10-05-2010 08:52 PM

K&n short ram intake

Bluerenesis 10-05-2010 08:56 PM

how long has it been on? please answer my questions or I cant help

danysrx8 10-05-2010 09:12 PM

Like two years

Razz1 10-05-2010 10:17 PM

You need a screen to smooth out the flow.

Also checj the underside of the throttle body. Make sure the cap is on.

Bluerenesis 10-05-2010 10:22 PM

did you reset the Eshaft sensor?

danysrx8 10-05-2010 10:55 PM

The intake has a screen. No i haven check that were exactly is that? Well i did try to reset it isnt that when u turn the key to the on position the pump the brake 20 times fast? Is that it ?

Bluerenesis 10-06-2010 10:03 AM

correct.

Bluerenesis 10-06-2010 10:04 AM

It will take a few drive cycles though to smmoth out if that was the problem

danysrx8 10-07-2010 12:40 PM

so some new codes came out today
p0506 and p0301
can anyone help on ewhat these might be
