Whirring noise on deceleration?

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but I just noticed it recently. Whenever I'm off the throttle between 50 and 30mph my car makes a whirring sound...similar to the sound it would make if I were allowing the car to rev down, but it makes the same noise regardless of whether or not its in gear. I can't tell if it's coming from the tires, engine or drivetrain though. Gear selection and clutch position don't matter, and it's not the brakes. Any insight is appreciated.

Whirring might come from your tranny. I have a similiar problem in my rx7--I believe the cause is a worn out throwout (or is it pilot?) bearing. It should be more noticible when deceling from a high RPM. Not too sure yet, gonna do some more research.
