Weird RPMs with clutch pressed and in gear

I tried searching for my problem and only found the first part that was already resolved.
My clutch bracket broke when I picked my car at the dealrship (apparently the test drove it like crazy). So they welded it back. That part of the story is described in many threads.
But now when I press the clutch and shift into any gear when the car is cold the RPMs start swinging between 2000 and 1000. Up and down and up and down... That is without touching the gas pedal. And when it warms up the RPMs move up from 900 to 1200 and just stay there. It didn't do that before they *fixed* my clutch.
When you realease the clutch everything is fine. The clutch doesn't seem to be aligned improperly because I tried putting it in first and releasing the clutch slowly. It doesn't begin to engage until the first quarter of the pedal is released. It seems like some kind of an electrical problem? Is there a sensor for the clutch somewhere?

Finally CEL came on with: P0704 Clutch switch input circuit problem
Took it back and they didn't connect it right as I suspected.
Problem resolved.
