Weak crank - no start

Does this sound flooded? Everything works electrically; when jump starting. I know the truck doing jumping is loud - but this is what my car is doing. I've never heard a flooded 8. All the fuses are in good shape - should i go ahead and swap plugs? Am at wits end.

That video tells me that your battery and/or starter are shot. The starter is barely moving. That would be your root problem. You may be flooded as a result of that as well, but you won't be able to solve the flooding without solving the battery and/or starter problem first.

would bad battery preclude jump starting? I noticed cables were very warm after a few start attempts. Thank you!

If it is still that slow during a jump start, it's the starter, not the battery. If it was hugely better with jumper cables hooked up then it would be the battery (or both).

Battery is completely dead and wont take a charge - vid was taken during a jump start. Ive not heard of a starter suddenly not working after sitting for 3 months; but i'll start looking that direction - thanks!

Ok, that is actually a bit different. A battery that has failed internally could still be crippling a jump start attempt. If you know the battery is completely dead, replace it and try again.

Okay - I got it. Whew.

Flooded - was the first flood since...ever. Restarted via Mazda's procedures. Not bad making it 10.3 years of ownership without flooding.

Thank you very much for the help, RIWWP.
