Thumbs down Waiting for Engine for 31 day - HELP!!

My 6MT, Vel Red with Nav and Appearance has been in the shop for over 30 days at Peoples Mazda in Las Vegas. My patience is now wearing VERY thin. I need some help form a knowledagble party on how you start a lemon law compliant. I have read the info for Nevada and it allows mw to automatically demand a new car or ALL of my money back if the vehicle has been in repair for 30 days or more. Has any one of you guys used this method and do you just contact MNAO?

PLEASE HELP feel free to private mail me. I will probally get another RX8 with same options, just cant see myself in any other car right now.

Thanks for you help in advance

You have the legal right to do so, speak with the general manager about it first, and also write a letter to MNAO. If that fails, you would need to contact a lemon law lawyer to get the issue resolved.
Thanks for the info.

have you read teh thread about the engine failures? its takign about 40-45 days to get the engines in and replaced just because of the backlog in Vegas. I doubt they will lemon law it given the circumstances. the 30 day limit applies only to them not being able to FIND and FIX the problem. in thi case they have foudn the problem and are just waiting on a back ordered part- the new engine. no lemonade. when was the last tiem you talked to the dealership? have you talked tothe owner? have you escalated your complaint to MNAO like it says in your manual?

Hi, and thanks for the info. I did speak to the General Manager who is trying to put pressure on Mazda to hurry the engine along. He says that I CAN pursue the lemon law as they have not fixed it in 30 days. The backlog is not the consumers problem. I will wait and see if the GM has any luck before pursuing the Lemon Law and calling MNAO. I am not out to sue or get a new car, I jst want my car back ASAP. It is now 35 days...

UK Black - why is your engine being replaced? What were your symptoms, and what tests did the dealership do to determine that the engine needed replacing?

Took the car in for routine service and I noticed a slight lack of power at above 7500k and stumbling idle. They reflashed and the car drove worse, they then carried out a pressure test which it failed. They said the apex seal is leaking.

A case of hard driving or something getting into your engine through your ports. I wonder how hard it would be to get in through the ports.

Oh yeah, are they covering it under warranty? I doubt they are, but its worth a shot.

Not a case of "Hard Driving" at all. I drive the car very softly with only occasional blasts. They are covering it under warranty. Why would they not? I have done NOTHING to cause the engine failure.

Good News. Your guys advise worked. The General Manager at Peoples called Mazda North America (Western Region) and they shuffled my engine to the top of the pack and it will be delivered and installed by Wednesday next week (14 Sep). Thanks for your advise it worked and I was very happy with the way the General Manager at Peoples treated me. He returned all my calls and kept me updated daily on the situation.

THANKS

60 days? not me...I'd have a new car ....I had problem with my A/C. I complained to the Mazda 1-800 number many times. This was causing the dealer to get a bad service record so they told me never to bring it back. I called Mazda and told them and they said that each dealership was independant and they could do that.

But get some help. You deserve a new car!

Ryan, the # of bad engines in Vegas is actually closer to 40.

Not bad diagnostics.

Bad engine/oil cooling design.

My engine was replaced. I was diagnosed bad in mid July and didn't recieve a new one untill mid August. 30 days seems to be how long you have to wait to get the new one.
