VERY INTERESTING PROBLEM... anyone care to advise
When I am driving my car everything is pretty normal except for one strange issue. When I have the car in 6th gear and I put clutch in the car will fall all the way to 500 rpms and jump between 500 and 750 until it eventually just dies out with a flashing cel. But I can just pop the clutch and away we go. It doesn't stall like that if I down shift and go down through gears to stop. Any ideas? I was thinking maybe carbon build up or something along those lines. I also have a cel of faulty neutral switch.
TIA

OK, a little more info may help -
When the throttle closes in 'normal' driving, the ECU shuts off fuel completely, to save gas and reduce emmisions, as well as reduce the little backfires you'd get.
When the switch is broken, the ECU no longer sees you are in neutral, hence the stalls.

just an update on this.... went to mazda on sat. to get alignment and front rotors changed. didnt leave for six hours. They reset the ecu while it was on the lift and now the car wont hold an idle. They did the compression test and it came back at 5.1 I hear a good, strong motor is like 8.0 to 9.0. Looks like I will be joining the new motor club.

It may actually be good news -
A little bird told me that the demand for engines is strong right now, and the reman plant can't keep up, replacement motors are now coming direct from Hiroshima......

They then told me I need to get an Fuel induction cleaning because the issue with the reflash was they Mazda assumed there was no carbon build up. They then asked me to pay for the fuel cleaning, which of course I refused.
Like I told them there was no issue with it idling when I brought it in. Amazingly enough they some how fixed it.

but EITHER WAY, 5.1 is just way to low. I got 5. something couple months ago
Damn it, why couldn't my engine die later? LOL !
I mean Reman is not bad (mine isnt bad ), but a new one is always better than a Reman ...
RWD if you recall at the meet and greet I said I had the same issue when I took mine to my local dealer for an oil change. They told me there was a ESB for and ECU reflash. As soon as they did it it would not stay running a idle.
They then told me I need to get an Fuel induction cleaning because the issue with the reflash was they Mazda assumed there was no carbon build up. They then asked me to pay for the fuel cleaning, which of course I refused.

thats good and horrible news... I cant imagine how long it will take to get a motor direct. I am having to pay for the rental car myself... 200 a week. i mean if it takes longer than a month I might as well by a crap car and sell it when i get mine back because for 800 a month I could be driving a new corvette
