vacuum leak

ok, 05, rx-8, 4100 mi ? on new engine, sometimes this leek comes & goes, its the middle hose on the acc. tube. the one that goes to the main intake, at times it sounds like a shop vac. in a distance. i just put a baffled oil catch can on it, its still doing the same thing. i just wanted a catch can on it i knew this wouldnt help or hert the leek. can someone give me an idea what this may be please? with the old engine i never heard this, the mazda mech. said that its not had much vacume on it & it would go away. that was about 3000, miles ago. thay wont call me back or nothing. thanks for any ideas!!! ps. all stock except for catch can.

Two for two on the spelling in the title - good work.

Could be the air pump - that is only thing in there that makes a vacuum cleaner noise.
Any other symptoms ?
Pics of where you think noise is coming from would help.

vacume

thanks for the come back! the air pump has been working fine. what happend was i got a mil code for the ssv. first i checked the actuator with a hand vacume pump, it was very smooth & held open until i released it. so i took off the uim and cleaned up all 3 solenoid conectors, done a bench test, all of them passed the test. so then i serched & found one guy said his solenoid worked fine on the bench, but once it was back on the car & got hot it would fail. so all 3 solenoids are the same i swaped the ssv & the air pump solenoids around, and after a few drive cycles i got the mil code for the air pump. but the air pump has been working fine, i know that it only comes on for minute or so. i guess that the solenoid is on its way out so ill get a new one. the vdi actuator also seems ok, its only that one hose in the middle of the acc. intake that goes to the lower intake manifold that sometimes makes the vacume sound & when i unplug it & put my finger over it then the sound stops. but yes at cold idle she is smooth, then once warmed up it gets a rough idle. the coils, plugs & wires have about 5,000 miles on them. thanks again!!!

You describe somthng similar to my problems at the moment,
I have similiar sound (i think) and have been told could be a vac leak. See vid below, sound is in the SSV area with a 'flap' sound from TB.

Any ideas if this is vac leak, or not?
