Time for new engine?
2007 6 speed manual, BHR coils, Catless midpipe, 73k miles.
I noticed in the last few weeks or so, that if I let the car sit for a day or two, the first start usually takes a few seconds of cranking to get the engine to start.
Almost immediately after it starts, I get smoke out the tail pipes that has a blue hue to it which would lead me to believe its burning oil.
It's never burned enough oil to make it smoke before so this was my first clue, second, it idles a bit rough, it feels almost like its misfiring but the RPM stays steady which I find weird,
I would think the RPM should be varying if it was missfiring.
I installed the BHR coil kit and new plugs about 8k ago and it had been runing great up until 2 or 3 weeks ago. It seems like its down on power, any comments or suggestions on what I should look at first?
I realize a compression check would be the fastest and surest way to find out but I have quite a few aftermarket parts on the car that would need to come off and this is my very last option as this is my only car.
After having done some searching I read that it could be due to a cracked housing or seal, but I haven't had it overheat and as far as I know It hasn't detonated.
I change my oil and filter religiously every 3k miles and I premix with Idimitsu at .5 oz per gallon every fill up.
Thanks,
John

Not sweet, I am familiar with the smell of burning coolant as my first car was purchased with a blown head gasket. It is currently catless, so all you can really smell in the exhaust is gas with a very very subtle smell of oil.
As far as battery, I have no idea I havn't ever checked it thats a good idea though.

Yeah, its normal for it to blow steam when its cold out, but it was close to 80 degrees when I started her up yesterday and she was still smoking a little on the first start.
