Temperature rising??

I don't think is normal for the temperature to go up just from stepping on the gas.. is not the first time it happens.. today I was on the highway, downshifted to 3rd, shifted at around 8500 then 4th and let go because the temperature was going up fast, did that twice and temperature went up both times. What's going on?

Your temp gauge shouldn't move while driving....If it is you should check your cooling system ....especially your thermostat

no. but it has a broad range of "dont need to move the needle". about 200 degrees or so where the fluctuations wont move it. when it does get over that higher temp it starts moving again. any time you see that needle move north of the normal spot its a bad thing.

for instance if you've just been in a parade on a really hot day and you drive a couple blocks from the end of it and straight onto a dyno. and as you start your first pull the guy says "oh i forgot to put the fans in front......"

Every day I learn something new about this car! Looks like another issue. Should I replace it right away?

Compression leak into the cooling system?

/connect a radiator pressure tester; see if it builds extreme cooling pressure fast, when rev'd.

Temp shouldn't move that much if the car is moving.

Stationary is a different matter. You could check that the fans both work, turn on the a/c and eyeball them.

I say its your coolant system, pretty sure, same thing happened to me before she blew. Sounds like the inevitable is going to happen now or later

you have just ran the car way too hot.
But, you are right--it shouldnt move like that.
Its not your fans--you were doing 70-90mph at the time.
You need to look at your entire cooling system

Why are you driving on an overheated engine?

Better question why do you keep driving with the same symptoms expecting it to go away on its own. You are on the fast track to a new engine.

First off, have you even checked your coolant level to see if its normal, or low?
Get under that hood!

Second, you should get the cooling system pressure tested, PRIMARILY to see if your water pump is still working properly, and second to see if you have a leak in the engine from a bad engine seal.

I'm guessing that if your coolant level isn't low, you have a bad water pump.
Might explain the noise you heard, too.

BC.

even the ones that put a fan in front of the radiator opening often overlook the oil coolers. If you don't have an oil temp gauge you will be completely oblivious to how fubar your oil temps will get without any air going across the coolers ...
