Street Racing?

So I just saw a thread that was edited i guess cause it talked about street racing. Is that really not allowed on this site? And if not, why? Just curious

Street racing is against forum rules. Street racing is illegal.

6. We do not have a street racing or "kills" forum on this site, and threads or posts about street racing will not be tolerated. These types of posts inevitably turn into flamewars, which nobody wins. Also, any forum member caught trolling and intentionally instigating a flame war on any other auto enthusiast forum gets an immediate 1-week ban; protesting this action results in a permanent ban.

Street racing is an illegal activity which the forum owner chooses not to support, is my guess.

Street racing thread serves no purpose besides boosting an individual's ego to satisfy his/her superego. Only an immature kid would feel satisfied by beating someone in a so called race where the starting point and finishing point is undetermined beforehand. Most of the time street racing thread starter are looking for praises instead of proving some other points, more like looking for someone to agree with them kinda thing instead of sincerely asking for another's honest opinion.

Furthermore one street race results in 2 crappy thread on 2 different forum.

Eg.
Thread on Forum A: I race with an EVO, i kept up in the corners. Obviously he sucked!
Thread on Forum B: I was fooling with the 8 driver, he must have thought he had me in the corners as well.

How did this thread end up in "issues and problems" ? Not being able to discuss street racing is not an issue with the rx-8

It is illegal, but hey, don't we all do illegal things from time to time? After all, no one is perfect... haha, I think an occasional flamewar could be fun...

I think a lot of you need to get off your high horses. Yes, street racing is illegal, however there are several different kinds. I for one think the occasional stop-light race is really fun, because virtually anyone will go against you. I've had anyone from businessmen in s-class mercedes to moms in minivans go for it. Now going onto the highway and doing 130 mph against some guy in a SRT-4 in traffic is wreckless. I would hope that all you guys that are saying "street racing is immature" are talking about the latter. If you honestly wouldn't go against someone at a stop light, you're a *****. Sorry.

I'll agree with everything but the last line. Sometimes it just isn't worth the effort. I see someone with a really beat up, dented, and just all around old looking honda with a mismatched color spoiler, several stickers, and the atypical "coffee can" exhaust pipe and I just laugh. They'd probably be of the type to say "Yea I raced this car and that car and beat them all" just because they gunned it and the other person didn't bother.

I guess I mean, if you would NEVER go at a stop light. I would say going up against an STI is a waste of time as well haha!

Ahh you know its not that bro and we all sit around drinking talking about street racing and what not. The thing is it gets out of hand with people talking b.s. IE: "So I was going a buck o' 5 when this Viper come out of no where and I killed him blah blah blah!" and you know its total ****! and it starts flam wars gets all out of hand posters start attacking eachother and befor you know they get the ban stick. Now to pervent all that we just dont want them kind round here.

I agree with zenmoused. I like the stop light races as it does provide some entertainment. As long as you are responsible with it (grant it some people don't understand that word) then I don't really consider it street racing. On the other hand I can understand the reasoning behind banning it all, as some people are just idiots and that is the only way to stop them.

I get my thrills from passing legitimately slow vehicles (i.e. not doing the speed limit) in passing zones. of course, theres nothing worse than being stuck behind such a car and every time you see that solid line turn into a dotted line, a car seems to appear out of nowhere driving in the opposite direction. arrrrgggh
