Find someone from the club in your area that knows about rotarys. Go to your section of the country. Or go to a proffessional.

Rotarys make wierd noises. Could be normal or could be ping.

Make sure you use good gas. Problem is noise description is so subjective from one person to the next. see someone with experience.

In general a metal grinding sound is not considered to be a happy sound. Can you offer more details about your vehicle & the circumstances under which you encounter this noise? For instance, is your car equipped with manual or automatic transmission? How many miles on the vehicle? Under warranty or not? When you take your foot off the accelerator, are you doing so when shifting up/down (assuming a manual tranny)? If automatic, are you paddle shifting or letting the tranny do its own thing? When releasing the gas pedal are you coasting or braking? Is this noise reproduceable every time or is it intermittent? The more info you can offer the more likely it is that you will get information that is going to be helpful for you.

my car is an automatic n i was letting it idle cuz i was pullin it out of the garage n i reved it up. then i heard kind of metal to metal contact. my car only has 3500 miles n is still under warranty though. had the car bout half a year. i think it mite jus b some build up somewhere in the engine. after the engine is warmed up i dont hear it anymore. i dont think its much to worry bout.
