Stalling after getting MSP16

I went to the dealer to get an oil change on saturday, they also did the MSP16 recall. Now whenever I come to brake at a light or anything my car just cuts off, the RPMs slowly drop and the CEL and Batter light come on. I called the dealer when this happened on my way home and he said that after the reflash is done this can happen and that I need to drive it around a bit.

As of today I have driven about 40 miles and it is still doing it. The only way I can keep my car from stalling is to rev the engine up some, but that is hard do to when I am coming to a stop and trying to rev at the same time. The dealer said that my car isn't under basic warranty anymore and that I can't get a loner car, which makes me wonder if they fix this if they are going to say I have to pay for it.

Has anyone had an issues after this recall with their car stalling? or any insight to this?

Thanks

I recall a thead recently where an owner had your very problem and after a number of off/on cycles, it straightened out. Maybe the dealer is right, maybe he's not. Time will tell. Drive the car for a few days and see if the idle improves and the stalling problem disappears. If it doesn't take it back and have them check it out. They should be able to read any DTC codes associated with the CEL that are stored in memory.

Only thing I have noticed after the MSP16 update was a cyclical vibration at idle. Could have been there all along, but I'm just noticing it. Will take it in before my warranty expires to have them check the motor mounts.

I just had a similar issue. Mine isn't stalling but the idle seems rough from time to time. Just got the flash yesterday.

Hi all, please help my car has been giving me grief for sometime now. Previously she would cut off at 7500 rpm and after driving a while the engine would cut off completely. I no longer have a cat as we dont have such strict emissions rules here in south africa-so all the sensors are still in place and the original cat was replaced with a normal back box-this was about a year ago-now the stalling happens quite often once the car is hot(after about 80-90kms)-I have replaced the coils/plugs and plug wires yet there are still flat spots through the rev range and at times she redlines at 7500rpm she even switched off yesterday when I changed to a lower gear and revs went up...please help any advice will do!!!
Friends here have suggested the air flow sensor behind the air filter or possibly the fuel filter/fuel pressure regulator. On start up at certain times she also smokes heavily and its thick white smoke that comes out but stops after a drive her a bit hard in first gear.

I had MSP16 done over the weekend with an oilchange. On my way to work on Monday my car stalled 4 times, mostly when slowing down to a complete stop, but once at 40 mph when i put it in neutral to see what would happen!

I have driven the car several times since, and it hasn't stalled again. BUT it does idle at a much lower RPM than before, shudders a bit, and it cycles. I'm gonna hold off on calling the dealer unless it stalls again.

remember that our warranty has just been increased to 8 years 100k on the engine, so if any of your matters do persist mazda will indeed cover your engine.

I am having similar issues. My car stalls at high speeds in 4th, 5th or 6th gear.

I got the MSP16 recall done months ago though. So I don't know if that could be related to what I am going thorugh..Too much to retype so here is the link to the thread....

HELP PLEASE...

After the flash I was concerned about my idle rpms dropping almost to the point of stalling. Now that I've driven for over 1 week (250 miles) everything is fine. Having the A/C on would've almost certainly stalled the car right after I got the flash done.

Everything will be fine.
