SSV stuck open, cheaper fix ????

Thanks. I read through your threads hoping there was a different answer. The good news is the CEL is off for now. I will probably wait for it to come on again before I drop the grand to fix it.

An old update to this thread:
I just found on line that apparently Mazda updated the SSV after April, 2007 build date. \
A redline a day does make sense to keep it working just as not letting these cars sit for weeks unused

Excatly how should I redline my 8? How long? What gear? How many rpms? Thanks!

Drive to Kansas City, MO.
Get on I-70, and head west.
Put car in second gear, if manual, and get up to highway speed.
Leave it in second gear the whole time.
Drive 600 miles west on I-70 until you reach Denver, filling up when needed.
Turn around, put car in third gear, and drive back to Kansas City, MO, filling up when needed.

That's about the right amount of time, at the right rpms, in the right gears.
But that's just my opinion.

You can get other people's opinions if you want, but that's all you're going to get...
